Oasis Beauty BB cream

I was invited to the Oasis beauty BB cream media launch event earlier this month (thank you Stephanie!). Oasis beauty have been in business for over 10 years and this is their first time holding an event in Auckland.  I rushed from another event just before this one and I was greeted by the girls from Oasis beauty who flew in from their Oxford, Christchurch cottage.  Nibbles and drinks were served and goodie bags with my name is ready to be picked up.   I decided to pick it up on my way out so I can free my hands to test out products and take photos! A laptop was also set up on the table showing the cottage they work in and the rescue animals they have at the cottage! So cute!

If you haven’t heard of Oasis beauty already, they are a company based in the South Island of New Zealand in a small town called Oxford.  Before the launch of the BB cream, Oasis beauty has based their products in skincare and sun care products.  I have reviewed their products previously. Check them out here: skincare trial kit and Rhino repair cream.  Read more about the brand and their products on their website.

What I got: The goodie bag contains many information about the new BB creams, a USB stick containing all the information, a small foundation brush and the new BB cream in all 3 colours. The BB creams are available for pre-order on their website for $49.95 (dispatched on 22th July). You can request for samples of these BB creams by emailing the Oasis team at office@oasisbeauty.co.nz!

The 4-in-1 BB cream is a combination of daily moisturiser, anti-aging treatment, mineral foundation and sunscreen all rolled into one. It contains anti-oxidant rich pomegranate, vitamin C, E, B5, healing rosehip oil and Calendula, hydrating hyaluronic acid, soothing sweet almond and many other beneficial ingredients.  Oasis natural BB cream contains no silicon, fragrance or talc. They are paraben free and cruelty free!

Cream tint – Full coverage, powder finish. Caramel tint – Full coverage, powder finish. Honey tint – Medium coverage, dewy finish.

How I find it: After cleansing and toning, I skip moisturiser and I use one pump from the airless pump bottle. I find that one pump is enough for my entire face. I pump it onto the back of my hand and use my fingers to apply. After applying all over my face, I use small little pumps of extra product as a bit of concealer under my eyes. The goodie bag came with a flat foundation brush, but I have yet to use it. Cream tint and caramel tint claims to give a full coverage with a powdery finish, while honey tint gives a medium coverage with a dewy finish.

Overall: The shades have a pink undertone which is a little hard to use on my warm toned Asian skin. I also prefer the medium coverage but prefer a powdery finish because have oily skin. The BB cream does not feel heavy at all and not sticky to the touch, but you do need to give it a little time to settle.  It doesn’t contain any fragrance and it is formulated for sensitive skin. Covers my redness and most of my acne scars (I can apply more for fuller coverage).

I found a couple of combinations to use the BB cream!

  1. I mix caramel and cream tint for a medium toned shade with full coverage and powdery finish.
  2. I use a oil controlling primer with the honey tint then powder over with a mattifying powder to create a medium coverage with a powdery finish that is longer lasting.
  3. I use the cream tint under my eyes for a bit of a concealor/highlighter.
  4. I mix in my liquid bronzer to create a slightly shimmery bronze look.

Repurchase? It is great to know that your makeup is also working to treat your skin and New Zealand is having our own BB cream! I prefer the honey tint with a mattifying powder because I have oily skin.
