Shiseido VisionAiry Gel Lipstick

Where I got it: I haven’t bought Shiseido products for such a long time. I recently saw the launch of Shiseido’s new range of makeup on Instagram from all over the world (Asia, New Zealand, etc.). The packaging of this range had a total revamp of their existing products and it looks super cool and chic and elegant. I just saw the new range from the Shiseido counter at my local Farmers and the salesperson was still putting the products on the display and testing out the lip glosses. I joined her at the counter and tested out a few shades. They were all so gorgeous and beautiful I wanted to take them all home. I ended up taking only one lipstick because they weren’t the most affordable products on the market. The lipstick I took home costs $51 each. Yes, it’s expensive, but is it worth it? Let me explain below.

What I got: This is the Shiseido VisionAiry Gel Lipstick in the shade 214 Pink Flash. It comes in a total of 28 shades in this gel lipstick range. A fusion of art, science and weightless Japanese texture, this long wear lipstick enables rich beautiful colours to feel weightless and invisible on the skin.

It offers full coverage colour opacity with a triple gel technology enables the visible to feel invisible. It contains 15% water for weightless glide, feel and instant hydration and maximum comfort during wear.

How I find it: The lipstick comes in its beautiful matte card box in the same black with red accent. Inside the box, there is a foil packet where the lipstick is. The sales person explained to me that is because the formula of the lipstick is 15% water, therefore, they have to protect it. I was thinking it was more for hygiene purposes because there is nothing stopping people from opening the box and checking out the lipstick shade inside and germs can go in.

Anyway, the lipstick tube has a smooth semi-satin finish that feels weighted and elegant. It is one of those slimline lipsticks and looks like some of Shiseido’s existing range and the Za range (they are owned by Shiseido). There is only 1.6g of product in each tube so that makes this lipstick probably the most expensive I’ve ever bought or owned.

Nonetheless, when I searched the lipstick shades on the back of my hand at the counter, I fell in love. How smooth it glides across my skin, how pigmented they are and the creamy, semi-gloss just makes me want to buy every single one of them!!

Overall: On the lips, they love even better! The feel gorgeous with a bit of creamy gel thickness that doesn’t feel sticky or dry. It wears beautifully without cracking or flaking off. It does dry down a bit and make your lips feeling a little in the dry side, but it doesn’t feel uncomfortable. Pigmentation hardly fades if you are simply talking or drinking water. However, since it is not long-wearing lip colour, you can remove it by wiping off or from eating.

Overall, I love the formula of these gel lipsticks and the packaging. Shade-wise, the range is beautiful with very wearable shades to suit many skin tones. However, at this price point, I would expect more product in each tube instead of just 1.6g. Therefore I might get another shade that is on the bold side of the spectrum, like a red or a deep berry or purple. But I won’t get a number of similar shades.
