Where I got it
I was browsing through my IG feed on my fellow skincare enthusiasts and stumbled upon someone’s review of this box and I got really interested in the products in this box. SI decided to try it out. I predominately follow skincare, makeup, fashion accounts, of course my friends as well so I always get influenced (help!). I have discovered a handful of beauty subscription boxes for the past year and I have been exposed to so so many new skincare brands from all around the world.
This company called See New Skincare is new to me and I have not heard of them previously. They do bi-monthly beauty boxes and you have the option of The Skincare Box or The Essentials. Each box contains products of the same brand so you really get a good taste of the brand. The Skincare Box contains 4-5 products and The Essentials box contains 2-3 products (also bi-monthly).
The Skincare Box is USD$47 every other month (USD$62.60 including shipping to New Zealand), and USD$37 for the Essentials box every other month. Obviously it is much better value to go for the bigger box because for $10 extra you get 2 more products! This month, the Skincare Box has a value of $311 and it totals to NZD$90.74. Seriously amazing value! I ordered this box on 29/7 and it arrived on 10/8, which is pretty quick from the US.

This marine extracts-infused hydrator absorbs like a dream, cushioning your skin in an ocean of moisture.

How find it
Let’s start with the Dew Drops Enzymatic Cleanser. The beautiful lemon-coloured jelly can be used as a first cleanse to remove makeup and sunscreen. I use a decent sized amount and rub the gel between my hands to melt it down and turn it into an oil. Then I massage the cleanser onto my skin to break down all the makeup, dirt, sunscreen and sebum on my skin. The oil has a good slip but it’s not runny so it does not run into my eyes.
This is an emulsifying cleanser so I will add some water to my hands and turn it into a milk before rinsing it off. The cleanser rinses off clean and leaves no residue. You could definitely use this as a second cleanse as well. My skin feels comfortable after washing off.
After cleansing, it is time for a mask. I would alternate using this one here, the Good Earth Thanaka Mask and the Thousand Petals mask. Good Earth is a detoxifying mask with honey to give you anti-inflammatory benefits whilst providing moisturisation. The texture of this clay-based mask is really interesting. It it smooth, but also a little stick and clumpy like semi-solid honey. It has a slight earthy scent that is not overpowering at all. A little goes a long way and I leave this on for 5-10 minutes. It’s got more clay and honey, so I wouldn’t leave this on too long for the clay to fully dry up which will dry up my entire face.
It needed a little help with rinsing the mask off as per usual honey-based or clay-based mask, but it does rinse clean and no residue. Skin feels comfortable and not overly drying or sensitive. However, I don’t see a dramatic result upon first use. You can use this as a spot treatment to any breakouts you have, and leave it on overnight.
Alternating with the Good Earth mask, I would use the Thousand Petals Resurfacing Mask when I want to brighten my skin and just remove any dullness on the skin. This mask contains lactic acid which is a gentle AHA acid to gently remove dead skin cells on the surface of the skin. It doesn’t penetrate the pores, but it does stop dead skin cells from building up on blocked pores. This creamy mask is really gentle and soft. It does have micro-granules that you can hardly see, but you can feel it on the skin. I massage gently before leaving it on for about 10 minutes, then I add a little bit of water to loosen it up and give myself a bit more manual exfoliation before rinsing the mask off.
Skin feels really smooth and soft and bright after washing this off and I do expect that from a physical exfoliant combined with a chemical exfoliant. My skin did not feel any irritation at all, not tingling, no redness, no burning. Unless you have highly sensitive skin, you should be able to use this too.
Next comes the hydrating serum, the Green Nectar Marine Hydrator is a semi-translucent, fluid serum that is really lightweight and feels watery on the skin. A full dropper-full of serum is enough for the entire face and neck area and it spreads very easily and hydrates the skin quickly. The hydration felt light, but very comfortable on the skin. I usually apply the Barrier Warrior right after so I don’t really know if the hydration would last.
After the Green Nectar, I use the Barrier Warrior Multigrain Peptides + Ceramides Gel on top. The product is quite thick in the bottle, kind of like a cream, which I thought would’ve been better in a pump bottle instead of a dropper bottle. It was a little difficult to pick up sufficient product in one go. The creamy lotion has a pale green colour and had a very light fresh scent. Very faint scent. The creamy lotion is really lightweight and I kind of understand why they called it a gel instead of a lotion. It looks like a lotion as it is opaque and thick, but when you spread it, it feels like a gel. It spread easily and soothes my skin right away. It feels almost like a protecting layer on my skin in a good way. It is not heavy or sticky on the skin and I don’t need to use a moisturiser on top, just SPF during the day.
Overall
I am surprisingly enjoying most of these products, especially the Dew Drop Cleanser, Green Nectar and Barrier Warrior! I love the texture, the experience on the skin and how it feels on the skin! The masks are also nice, but I don’t see amazing results with these treatment masks. As for the other skincare products, I love how they are mild and gentle, they don’t aggrevate my skin or cause any irritation or congestion. The Green Nectar is really hydrating and light, I love how I can layer this with other skincare on top and would work without any issues. The Barrier Warrior is also a very repairing lotion for the skin and works so well with my tretinoin routine.
Just before 2 weeks of getting my hands on this box, I received an email from See New Skincare to say that they have a special offer for their subscribers only, where you can build your own bundle with the Forest Rhapsody products – 3 for $30 which is such an amazing offer! I did not take advantage of the offer, but it quickly sold out within a day. They also do 3 for $60 for all of the products they have in their store.
I will definitely check out their next box (September/October) to see what they will offer next! Let me know if you decided to check them out too.
