Where I got it: About a month ago, I got sent a bottle of this serum to try and review (thank you Maria). These are available only at professional beauty salons (click here to find stockists that holds these and much more other cosmetic brands!) You can find stockists on their website. They are RRP NZD$89.70 or AUD$68.64 for 15ml.
What I got: This is a 15ml pump bottle of Simply Brilliant 24/7 brightening serum by Cosmedix (distributed by Advanced Skincare Technology in New Zealand and Australia. They also distribute many other brands including Aspect, ResultsRX and Clinicians Complex). Cosmedix is a company that believes most skin problems are caused by inflammatory of the skin. The serum is very fluid and not what I have expected. The serum is a semi-translucent brown liquid and smells like licorice. It aims to treat photo damage/sun damage, post-inflammatory hyper-pigmentation, stressed/environmentally damaged skin. It is packed with 10 plant-based brightening ingredients without arbutins and hydroquinone, it is powerful yet gentle enough for daytime use.
How I find it: After cleansing and toning , I do just one pump on my palm. One pump goes a long way because of its texture, moisturise then sunscreen. Even though this serum is gentle enough to use day and night, I always use sunscreen even though I am only out for a little bit.
First application: The serum is absorbed quickly without feeling thick and sticky. This smells like licorice!
Second day: Cannot see any amazing results yet, but no allergic reactions so far. No redness, burns or peeling. So far so good!
After 2 weeks: I noticed some lighter acne scars are reduced and my skin tone is more even. I don’t know if it is something else I am using lately as my moisturiser, but I can see that my skin is really glowing! My cheekbones are dewy and bright even without a highlighter!
After a month: Wow! Finally after a month of use! My acne scars are still there, they haven’t magically disappeared but I find that my face is overall brighter and clearer. I also used a little bit on my hand everyday and the effects on my hand is just gorgeous! Now I have slightly two toned hands!
Overall: This little bottle of serum is quite pricey I would say, but if something works for you, its gotta be worth spending some money on a single product instead of trying heaps of products that don’t work! I do see some of their other products that can be quite interesting and affordable. Other products I would like to try from Cosmedix would be their Clear range for acne/oily skin.. it includes Purity Clean (an effective exfoliating cleanser to clean the skin), Refine (a retinol product to renew and repair damaged skin) and Clarity (for oil control and breakouts and diminish appearance of scars).
