What I got: This is a 50ml pump bottle of Wella Professional’s Velvet Amplifier | Wet Style Primer. This concentrated serum works to increase manageability and amplify control for smooth, responsive styling. Has a hold factor of 1.
How I find it: After towel-drying my hair, I use a single pump (as per recommendations on the bottle) of this style primer on my hands (as shown in the picture above, that is 1 pump). Spread it between my palms and work it into my hair. It looks to have a silicon-like texture, but it is not oily or serum-like. It pretty much melted into my damp hair and felt like I haven’t applied anything. Then I blow dry my hair as normal without applying any extra product. I usually take my time blow-drying my hair now I’ve cut it into a bob just above my shoulders, I need to maintain it properly because it will just look like a mess if I don’t. The primer doesn’t seem to do much because it has a hold factor of 1 out of 5 shown from the bottle. I find that I need to use more hair treatment oil when my hair is wet, but less when my hair is about 60-70% dry, so the second time I use this, I blow dry my hair and roots so that it is about 70% dry and apply one pump of this primer. I find that it works much better with my hair semi-dry. It smooths my hair and makes brushing and blow drying so smooth!
Overall: It is weightless and does not create much hold which I like. It makes my hair look very natural and no residue as well. The fact that it doesn’t feel too silicon-like is also a bonus, because when I use something like a shine serum or a silicon product to my hair, my hair feels slick, oily and slippery and I don’t really like it. The serum does make my hair smoother under the brush and when I run my fingers through my hair.
