L’Oreal False Lash Butterfly Wings Mascara Waterproof

Where I got it: I got this from Farmers while they are having an offer of L’Oreal products – Buy 2 get the 3rd Free. So I picked this one up and the Volume Million Lashes Waterproof up as well. Then I picked up the Nude Magique Eau de Teint as a gift for my mother in law. This mascara is selling for $23.99 in Farmers, but selling for $38.99 in Life Pharmacy! What a price jump.

What I got: This is the new L’Oreal False Lash Butterfly Wings Mascara in Waterproof black. Overseas it’s also called Voluminous butterfly mascara. For the first time, L’Oreal invents a mascara brush that is asymmetrical. Benefits of this asymmetical brush is the ease and precision of application, it catches every lash, volumizing even the shortest lashes from their roots. The formula contains unique cocoon fibres – 1.2mm fibres that softly envelop and expand lahses for a silky soft lash fringe with spectacular, fluttery volume. The lashes are volumised, lengthened and curved thanks to the arches on the brush, producing a false eyelash effect. Your lashes are fanned out like butterfly wings.

How I find it: I curl my lashes then I apply a good coat of the mascara. The asymmetric brush head means you need to hold the wand on the same hand to the eye you want to apply mascara to otherwise the ‘winged’ part of the brush will not be at the outer edge of your lashes. The rubber brush is quite soft and flexible and the wet formula is quite glossy on the lashes. It takes a little time for the formula to dry, but once dried the lashes feels soft and flexible. The second coat gives my lashes extra volume and length, but I would suggest to stop on the second coat otherwise it will clump a little and give you spidery lashes.

Overall: I love the wet formula and the arched brush. The lashes are lengthened and volumised, the curl is held up really well and that is what I have been loving with L’Oreal’s waterproof mascaras. It is lightweight therefore doesn’t weigh my short and weak lashes down. However, the brush is a little too big for my short lashes and I won’t be able to apply mascara to my lower lashes at all without getting the bottom of my eyes all dirty. Removing the mascara will need an oil-based eye makeup remover or a cleansing oil with gentle massaging. Overall I love the formula of the mascara and the shape of the brush does make a difference to the effect, but I do believe that the winged effect can be achieved if you use a normal mascara brush and concentrate it to the outer edges anyway. This mascara just makes it easier. :>

There will be comparison post on these 3 L’Oreal mascaras – False Lash Telescopic, False Lash Butterfly Wings and Volume Million Lashes coming soon so stay tuned!
