Where I got it: I got this from MAC from their Back to MAC offer. Trade in 6 empty MAC items and get a free lippy (you get to choose between about 20 different shades, but most of them a pastel pinks which are so not my colour…). To be honest, this is my very first MAC lipstick and I really like it!
What I got: I chose Syrup from the Lustre range. This is a sort of mauve pink shade that is quite similar to my natural lip colour, only a little bit more mauve/purple. It comes in the standard black bullet packaging and comes without a box because it is a free lipstick offer. The lipstick from the bullet is a little frosty white on the side and I was wondering if it is because it has been sitting for quite long…? I have no idea.
How I find it: The formula is quite moisturising so with well exfoliated lips, I don’t need to apply a lip balm beforehand. If I do, I will apply a thin layer and not something that is too slick, otherwise the lipstick will have a hard time trying to grab onto my lips. I don’t need to apply a lip gloss because the lustre effect gives a bit of a gloss to it. It doesn’t creep into my lines or run, so I really love the formula. It is not very long lasting, so it is easy to remove.
Overall: This time I did not do a half lip comparison because when I took the photo, they both look the same! It is so similar to my own lip shade! The above image doesn’t do the shade much justice as well, it is more mauve on my lips than pink as how it is shown. Overall, I love the Back 2 MAC idea, but I would probably suggest that they could expand the colour range quite a bit – pastel pinks and nudes are not the best on everyone. I’d rather they have more reds and neutral tones. Oh well, its free!
