Violet Box – April

Where I got it: I was sent this for consideration and to celebrate the launch of Violet Box in New Zealand (this was the April box, but was not sent to be until early May, so sorry for the late post! :>). Violet box started in Australia and has finally landed in New Zealand! Violet box offers 5+ beauty samples/full sized products on a monthly subscription basis. Each box is valued at least $60+ per month and the subscription fee is $25 + $4.50 postage. You get to try out new products that is delievered to your doorstep every month and you can stop the subscription whenever you like.

What I got: This is the April box and I do notice that some people have got different products in their April boxes when I searched online. I guess they don’t have all the same box so you are in for a surprise! Firstly, I love the black box with a purple ribbon and a magnetic snap-closure (definitely going to reuse this!), the box is packaged really neatly with a small card explaining the products inside, which included a full sized ModelCo. Shine Ultra Lipgloss in Stripe Tease, a deluxe sample sized Avene Gentle Gel Cleanser, a full sized Catalina Geo mascara, a deluxe sample sized St Tropez Bronzing Mousse and a Bodyography Oxyplex Loose Complexion Powder in Wheat.

ModelCo. Shine Ultra Lipgloss in Strip Tease: I have tried this lipgloss previously and I really liked the packaging, but not the formula. The semi-round tube is easy to twist open even when you have slippery hands. It also has a handy mirror on the body of the tube so you can never be caught out without a mirror! The shade is really nice, it is great by itself or over a lipstick shade. It is really glossy, but it is really sticky and very hard to wipe off.

Avene Gentle Gel Cleanser: This deluxe sample is 30ml in size with a twist open cap and a slightly squeezy bottle. Particularly gentle and unctuous, the Gentle gel cleanser is made up of with trace-particles, which release their beneficial action when emulsified with the fingertips. Formulated for water enthusiasts, this gel enables to remove make-up and impurities from face and eyes while respecting the integrity of normal to combination sensitive skin. This gel cleanser feels very good on the skin and washes off easily without residue on the skin at all.

Catalina Geo Mascara with refill in #6 black: I have not heard of this brand before and it is made in Korea. This liquid mascara claims to give natural looking lashes, it is hypoallergenic and waterproof. The brush is not too big, but the bristles are quite dense. The formula is volumising and slightly lengthening, but it doesn’t really hold a curl. It lasted the whole day without smudging and melting to my under eye area.

St Tropez Bronzing Mousse Self Tan: This is a 50ml pump bottle of self tan. This super-lightweight, easy-to-apply, velvety mousse delivers that ultra-even all-over tan you’ve always wanted. Bodyography Oxyplex Loose Complexion Powder in Wheat: This is a 27g full sized loose powder. This breathable anti-aging mineral powder that allows for all day wear. This lightweight, versatile formula can be layered for desired coverage and enhances the skin with a hint of glow and brightness. Can be used as a sheet foundation or finishing powder. It disguises and camouflages minor imperfections through light reflecting technology. Contains Vitamin A, C & E to provide essential daily nutrients. It is smooth and silky in texture for easy application.

Overall: Very interesting mixture of products in this box. It contains 3 fulls sized products and 2 deluxe sample sized products so it is great value for money! 2 of these products are also new to me and they are from overseas so that is quite exciting!
