Maybelline Fit Me! Shine Free Foundation

Where I got it: I was sent this for review from Beautyreview.co.nz. They are RRP$22.99 and available in your local Farmers, selected pharmacies, Warehouse and supermarkets.

What I got: This is the Maybelline Fit Me! Shine Free Stick Foundation in shade 220 Natural Beige. Comes in a total of 12 shades. This is Maybelline’s first gel stick foundation with an anti-shine core.  The fresh gel foundation blends to a natural matte finish, its lightweight powders in the anti-shine core instantly dissolve excess oil. It provides a natural matte finish with medium buildable coverage. Compact and convenient, it is easy to apply and great on-the go!

How I find it: After applying moisturiser and a sunscreen (this foundation does not have SPF, so remember to apply sunscreen), then I swipe this stick foundation directly onto my skin – working from the centre outwards, I do 4 lines across my cheeks, 1 down each side of my nose, 1 down my nose, 1 across my upper lip area, 1 across my chin, 2 across my forehead from centre to the left side, 2 from the centre to my right side and one down the middle. On the first try, I used a flat synthetic foundation brush to blend it all out and it blends like a dream! I have also tried this with my Real Techniques Buffing Brush to buff it in with small circular motions, which gives me a much better result than the foundation brush. I did apply another layer on my cheeks to build up coverage for my acne scarring, but that does not cake up my face at all. When on the go, use your fingertips to blend and it works just as well. No streaks, no brush marks and it doesn’t sink into my pores or lines. The finish is naturally matte without overly drying on my skin. I don’t even need a blotting or setting powder!

Overall: I have tried other stick foundations before and they have been quite disappointing to be honest – it is either too dry in the stick, too hard to blend or too cakey on the skin. This foundation however is very easy to apply and blend (let’s hope it stays that way and does not dry out!). It provides a sheer coverage that can be built up to a medium coverage. The natural matte finish is ideal for people with combination/oily skin that doesn’t want to look very cakey and overly matte (it looks quite unnatural and will appear very cakey if it is too matte). It feels light on the skin and to the touch. Doesn’t sink into my pore or lines has held up very good even after 5 hours!
