What I got: This is Ulta3 Matte Lipstick in 036 Rose Bloom – a soft, deep pink. The new and improved formula allows you to create a perfect matte finish without the dry feeling on your lips. The range boasts all the nourishment of a moisturising lipstick in 10 versatile matte shades.
How I find it: The lipstick is quite pigmented and it is matte, but not dry-matte. It has a natural look to it. This shade is more of a warm brownish red and looks really natural on my lips. I scrub my lips and apply my trusty Rosebud salve to my lips before applying this lipstick. Make sure you don’t use a very shiny/slippery lip balm otherwise the matte finish will not come through. Don’t apply too much because it will get a bit cakey and look really un-natural. 1-2 layer will be enough.
Overall: The matte formula can be a little drying and easily get into lines, so to wear matte lipsticks, you need to look after your lips really well – scrub, lip balm and lip treatments. Overall, the red shade of this lipstick is really bright and pigmented. It does wipe off, but it is not really designed as a long-wearing lipstick anyway. You can always change up the lipstick and add a gloss over the top if you decide to change the finish from matte to glossy. I always do that during the day 🙂
