Where I got it: I won this from an Instagram competition by Gem Box and Chelsea Adelaide. Gem Box is New Zealand’s first jewellery and accessories subscription box service. When you get on their website, there is a short quiz to fill out to find out your style choices and suggest the best box to suit your style. Otherwise you could just skip straight to the style you want and order online. They offer a subscription service for $29.95 per month (charged each month as it is delivered and can be cancelled anytime), or single payment for 1 month (29.95), 3 months ($89.00) and 6 months ($170.00). There is approximately $55-$75 RRP worth of product in every Gem Box. At least 2-4 pieces; which could include necklaces, pendants, bracelets, cuffs, bangles, rings (adjustable), studs, earrings, hairbands, hair ties, floral headpieces
What I got: This is the October Classic Chic box from Gem Box. There is also Vintage Glam, Boho Love, Urban Rock and Random (where Gem Box sends you a random box!). Classic Chic is a sophisticated, minimalistic style used to accentuate your natural style & personality. Expect simplisitc details using chains, charms and pearls. Perfect for everyday and workwear. This box contains a silver chain link necklace (flat silver chain link necklace with adjustable clasp $22.00), a minimalist white watch (watch with PU leather straps & simplistic silver face $32.00) and a pair of silver bow rope earrings (small bow stud earrings in a simple rope design $14.00).
How I find it: There seems to be a silver theme to this box. The watch is minimalist and simple so it will be very easy to pair. I have not owned a PU leather watch before (I usually wear watch with metal straps), so this is a new style. I love either minimal watch styles or big manly watches, so this one is perfect. The earrings are also simple and easy to wear, but I seldom wear earrings because I have sensitive skin in my ears, and the girly style of these earrings made this something I probably won’t wear at all 🙁 . The necklace though, is bold but I can see that it can be worn with either a singlet and skinny jeans or a shirt with a high peter pan collar with black pants. I love monochromatic colours so these silver pieces are the best accessories to glam up my outfit without looking OTT.
Overall: There is $68.00 RRP worth of products in this month’s Classic Chic box. For me I wouldn’t spend $32.00 and $14.00 for the watch and earrings, but the necklace for $22.00 is something I would think I would purchase full priced. The quality of these pieces are not the best, but they were all clean and tidy, no broken bits and nicely presented in a black box complete with a Classic Chic card. One thing to note is the shipping times – no matter when your order is made, the cut off date to receive next month’s box is 20th of the month. So if your order is placed after the 2oth, you will receive your GemBox with the next months deliveries.
