Where I got it: I got this from Japan while I was there for a holiday (sorry I forgot how much they all were, but the foaming wash was 1260yen which is about NZD$13. Very afforable.). These were readily available in local drugstores. I was also able to find them in Hong Kong pharmacies. Curél products are not available in New Zealand unfortunately.
What I got: I got the Foaming Wash from the Sebum Trouble Care line and the Moisture Lotion I Light and Moisture Face Milk from the Intensive Moisture Care line. Curél products are created for sensitive and dry skin.
How I find it:
Sebum Care Foaming Wash (150ml) This foaming wash is suppose to remove excess sebum while leaving skin’s oil balance at a normal level. It is suitable for dehydrated and sensitive skin. This foaming wash comes in a very convenient pump bottle that pumps out a thick foam. After removing my makeup (this is not formulated to remove makeup) I wet my face and use a single pump and massage it all over my skin. The thick foam softly cleanses while I massage and after rinsing off, my skin doesn’t feel overly dry or tight at all. Does not contain any fragrances or colours therefore it is quite safe to use on sensitive skin. I would say this will be great for acne-prone skin with active breakouts to normal skin or even dry skin. It is gentle and not irritating at the same time cleanses thoroughly. I bought a refill pack once this bottle has finished and I usually finish the cleanser first out of a skincare regime.
Moisture Lotion I Light (150ml) The Moisture Lotion comes in I, II and III. I is light (suitable for oily skin), II is normal skin and II is rich (suitable for dry skin). This is a step after cleansing and before moisturiser or serum. This Moisture Lotion in light has a liquid consistency and is clear. It comes with a lid and a pump to dispense the product. I use 2 pumps into my palm, spread it between 2 hands and apply directly onto my face with patting motions. It contains no fragrance and no alcohol therefore is hydrating and not drying. It is not really a toner, but more of a hydrating water.. similar to SK-II Facial Treatment Essence I would say. It lightly hydrates my skin getting it ready for serum and moisturiser. I have tried to use this on its own after cleansing without any serum or moisturiser and my skin still feels great and not dry!
Moisture Face Milk (120ml) This face milk is the moisturiser from the regime, it hydrates, moisturises, soothes and calms sensitive and dry skin. I have actually skipped the serum product for whatever reason I’m not sure. I prefer to put as little amount of product on my face as possible because my pores can be clogged quite easily and I do not like a heavy feeling on my skin. I use a single pump of this face milk all over my face. It comes with a lid and pump as well for easy dispensing and hygiene reasons. The face milk has a fluid consistency and you have to allow a little bit of time for it to set in/absorb. However, it doesn’t feel tacky or greasy on the skin, just plump and soft. My skin does not have allergic reactions and so far no breakouts. I apply a sunscreen with minimum SPF30 everyday to protect my skin from UV rays.
Overall: Firstly, I really like Japanese skincare. It is very much suitable for Asian skin compared to brands like Estee Lauder, Clinique, etc. They also have really nice packaging and I am a real sucker for it. I have seen Curel in Hong Kong and have heard good things about them so I had to try them and it was very much worth it. I love all 3 products I’ve got and I regret not getting the entire line of products and backups. I might need to as my mother in law to get me some when she comes back! I really love how these products are simple – no colour, no fragrance, no fancy steps. Just effective skincare.
