Where I got it: I got this from a drugstore in Japan while I was traveling in Osaka in 2014. SK-II is a japanese brand and it is rarely on sale in Hong Kong and rather expensive buying it online from overseas. I’ve tried the treatment essence before and I really like it. So when I saw it was on sale in Japan, I jumped and bought a 150ml bottle! I don’t remember how much it wash, this is by far the most expensive skincare product I’ve bought for myself!
What I got: I got a 150ml bottle of the SK-II Facial Treatment Essence. It comes in a frosted glass bottle with a silver plastic screw lid. This is the most popular product in the SK-II range. This treatment lotion is designed to be used after toner and before moisturiser. SK-II’s signature product, the much-loved and most awarded bestseller, Facial Treatment Essence has over 90% Pitera , the miracle ingredient discovered over 30 years ago that remains essentially unchanged till today. Its irreplaceable formula gently exfoliates the face and helps moderate the skin surface renewal cycle. It helps to improve the appearance of 5 dimensions of beautiful, crystal clear skin: spots are less visible, appearance of wrinkles is reduced, skin texture is more refined, firmness is improved, and radiance is beautifully elevated. Skin becomes breathtakingly crystal clear.
SK-II Facial Treatment Essence
How I find it: After cleansing and toning, I use a few drops of this lotion on my palms and pat on my skin. The instructions states to use with a cotton pad, but I find that would be so wasteful of all the essence soaked into the pad! Only about 2 drops is enough for the entire face as it has a watery consistency, it is easy to spread. You can also use this as an intensive mask where you soak these makeup cotton pads (there are special cotton pads that you can separate into multiple layers and they are less absorbent), then spread them out onto where you need hydration and moisture ASAP. I have tried that once, but I too find that a little wasteful so I just stick to using it as an essence with my hands. 😛
SK-II Facial Treatment Essence
Overall: It does take a while to see effects, but I do see it! I have been using it for a few months now (it lasts a good amount of time if you only use a few drops at a time) and my skin is glowing naturally! I don’t have dryness issues normally, but I don’t have much of a concern with oiliness from dehydrated skin as well (which can make my skin dry, but very oily). It doesn’t really help much with my large pores or breakouts, but it is slowly reducing my acne scars and marks! I am sure continual use of this essence will keep improving my skin in the long run. Now, I just need to put aside some money to get myself more bottles and ideally some moisturizers from SK-II as well!
