Dermalogica UltraCalming Skin Kit

Where I got it: I received this pack in the goodie bag from the Dermalogica UltraCalming Redness Relief Primer launch 2 weeks ago (link here). You can purchase Dermalogica products from authorised skin centres and www.dermalogica.co.nz. This is RRP$70.00.

What I got: This is Dermalogica’s UltraCalming Skin Kit. This kit for sensitised skin contains products to help relieve itching, redness, and reactive skin flare-ups associated with sensitive and sensitised skin. This kit contains: UltraCalming Cleanser – 50 ml (gentle cleansing cream), UltraCalming Mist – 50 ml (soothing, cooling spritz), UltraCalming Serum Concentrate – 10 ml (sensitised skin antidote), and a Barrier Repair – 10 ml (shielding, protective moisturiser).

UltraCalming Cleanser ($20.00 for 50ml). Gentle cleansing gel/cream for reactive skin. Helps calm and cool the redness and heat associated with reactive, sensitized or over-processed skin, and easily rinses away or wipes off, making it ideal for sensitised skin. This cleanser has a really interesting gel-cream texture! It feels really gentle on the skin and does not foam or lather. Rinses off easily and can be wiped off without leaving any residue.

UltraCalming Mist ($20.00 for 50ml). A soothing, hydrating mist to calm redness and sensitivity. Use post-cleanse to lock in hydration and prime skin for treatment with UltraCalmingTM products. Lightweight mist helps create a shield against environmental assaults, and synergistically relieves and restores skin while fighting future flare-ups. Our exclusive UltraCalming Complex contains Oat and botanical actives that work below the surface to interrupt inflammatory triggers that lead to sensitization, while helping to minimize discomfort, burning and itching. Soothing Aloe helps calm while correcting the moisture level imbalance that can provoke sensitized skin. Formulated without artificial fragrances and colors. After cleansing, I spritz this all over my face with 2 pumps. It feels cool and refreshing on the skin. My skin drinks it up and gets it ready for moisturizing.

UltraCalming Serum Concentrate ($98.00 for 30ml). The antidote for skin sensitivity: a super-concentrated serum that helps calm, restore and defend sensitized skin. Help build skin’s tolerance to ease discomfort of stressed, reactive skin with collagen-stimulating peptides. Our exclusive UltraCalming Complex contains Oat and botanical actives that work below the surface to interrupt inflammatory triggers that lead to sensitization, while helping to minimize discomfort, burning and itching. Restore skin’s natural lipid barrier and help defend against future assaults with Oil of Evening Primrose, Sunflower Seed and Avocado extracts. Formulated without artificial fragrances and colors. After the calming mist, I use a small amount of this serum and apply it to the areas I have redness. I don’t have much redness, but when I do it is mostly caused by sensitivity to a certain skincare product. This serum concentrate really does help out to calm it.

UltraCalming Barrier Repair ($72.00 for 30ml). Velvety moisturizer helps fortify sensitized skin with a damaged barrier. Use this unique anhydrous (waterless) moisturizer after toning to help shield against environmental and internal triggers that cause skin stress. Our exclusive UltraCalming Complex contains Oat and botanical actives that work below the surface to interrupt inflammatory triggers that lead to sensitization, while helping to minimize discomfort, burning and itching. Help restore a healthy barrier function with Oil of Evening Primrose, Borage Seed Oil and silicones as vitamins C and E help combat free radicals that can lead to inflamed and irritated skin. Formulated without artificial fragrances and colors. Very nice moisturiser to protect and hydrate my combination oily skin. It feels just like a silicon primer and goes on semi matte on the skin. Feels feather light and gives no residue or greasy feeling.

Overall: This skin set for Sensitive skin is really great value! You get to try all these great products or even take them travelling! I absolutely love the texture of the cleanser – it is nothing that I have tried before and it is so gentle on the skin! The mist is also great for when my skin is feeling hot and needing some fresh cool feeling on my skin – imagine putting this in the fridge on a hot summer day! The barrier repair is interesting too, if the instructions didn’t mention that it is used as a moisturiser, I would’ve though that it is a silicon primer because of its texture – feels light as a feather with no residue on the skin. The serum concentrate however, is a little unexpectedly ordinary to be honest – it has a light lotion-y texture for a serum, but I suppose if you have a lot of redness and irritated skin, it will help? I might save this one up for an emergency, especially when I go away on holiday! All in all, this little kit is pretty awesome! The sizes are enough for you to try it out for about a week and enough to see if your skin will react and enough to see some results!
