What I got: This is Schwarzkopf Napro Palette in 5-1 Light Ash Brown. This is a permanent at-home hair colour. How I find it: I have always done at-home permanent hair colour at home so I am no stranger to at-home hair colour. I have medium/long hair (pass shoulder) and it is actually recommended that I use 2 bottles (but 1 bottle does the job fine for me). I grab an old towel over my shoulders, some hair clips for clipping my hair up, then make sure no clothes hanging around where hair dye and flick onto and stain. I then put my gloves on and follow the easy instructions of mixing the ingredients in the developing bottle and shake it well with the lid on. With day old hair, I start by focusing on the front and top of my head, then all over the rest of my hair. I make sure my roots are covered and the product is evenly distributed by massaging the product in with my hands (gloves on!). I have to say that a second bottle would be great to make sure everything is covered. It does have a strong smell but I can cope. After 30 minutes, I put my gloves back on and hop into the shower and slightly wet my hair and massage. Rinse until water runs clear then I apply shampoo and the conditioner it came with (smells divine!!).

Overall: I love this shade – it is very close to the shade I was before. With my natural dark brown hair, it didn’t go quite ash as shown on the box, but more caramel brown. The formula does leave my hair soft and smooth especially the conditioner! It was easy to use and apply even by myself with minimal mess! The formula sticks to my hair and not too fluid that it runs everywhere. I would recommend a bit of vaseline around the hairline close to your face to avoid staining your skin! After that, use a colour-saving shampoo and conditioner to help keep the colour vibrant for longer!
