Jessup 10 piece makeup brushes

Where I got it: I have been seeing Facebook posts from Makeup Obsessives and everyone has been raving about them. So I got onto ebay to search for some. They were NZD$24.42 with free shipping to New Zealand! It was ridiculously cheap for a set of brushes I know won’t be highest quality, but at least I won’t be breaking the bank! I ordered it on 10th October and it arrived within 2 weeks from Hong Kong to New Zealand.

What I got: This is a set of 10 Jessup Kabuki brushes – 5 large and 5 precision brushes. They come in black/silver, gold/silver, purple/silver, blue/silver and the one I got – pink/silver. You could also get just the 5 detail brush set or just the 5 large brush set. No specific description of the product was available on eBay but these brushes are quite soft and on the dense side.

How I find it:

Tapered Kabuki: Ideal for applying cream and liquid foundations onto the harder to reach contours of the face. I’ve just been started using this to apply loose powder to my under eye area to set the concealor and it works great! It is tapered to get to that area without moving the powder to my lashes or my eye lids.

Round Kabuki: Great for blending mineral products onto the skin. I love using this with my cream blush from Colourpop – I swirl it in the product and buff it onto my face. The bristles are dense and soft – blends up the blush evenly and the pigments stay put.

Angled Kabuki: Best for buffing cream blush or bronzer onto the skin. I use this for my cream highligher from Colourpop also. Swirl in the product and apply to my cheekbones, c-shape around my eyes and down the nose.

Flat Kabuki: For the application of liquid or cream products to flat areas of the face such as the forehead and cheeks.  I use this with my liquid foundation or BB creams. I either have the product on the back of my hand and dab the brush in it or I apply the foundation directly to my face and blend away with this brush. Soft and dense it gives even and good coverage without streaks.

Jessup Flat Kabuki

Flat Angled Kabuki: Blends foundation easily onto hard to reach areas of the face. Angle fits all areas of the face seamlessly. Works especially well on cheekbones and contours of the nose. This is another good foundation brush or I use this for my liquid or cream based bronzers.

Precision Angled: Use to apply product to areas such as the sides of the nose and the hollows of the cheeks. I have been using this for my blending eyeshadow and it works pretty well.

Precision Flat Angled: Use for precise application of concealer products anywhere on the face. Works particularly well around the eyes and nose. I love using this to blend in my concealor – whether it is under my eye area, around the nose or around my lips, the precision brush makes blending so easy and flawless!

Precision Flat: Stipple concealer on sun spots, blemishes, and other small imperfections. This is also great for concealing especially when I am working with quite liquid formula concealers. It is almost like a stippling brush which will create a soft, diffused look.

Precision Tapered: Exact placement of concealer in harder to reach areas such as around the eyes and nose, chin, and around the mouth. I haven’t gone around to finding a use for this yet. I will try this out for concealer for harder to reach places. Otherwise I think this would be a good brush for contouring the nose? Maybe with a very light hand to pick up the pigments tho.

Precision Round: Apply eye shadow base or primer onto the lid. Another one that I hardly use, I suppose I can use this to apply cream-based eyeshadow or even as it’s description, eye shadow primer. But I usually use my fingers to apply primers anyway.

Overall: I really like the large brushes for applying face products, but the smaller precision brushes are very much a surplus set of brushes. The brushes are overall very easy to take care of. I clean the with Baby shampoo every week. I swirl them in water, then I have a bit of baby shampoo on my hands and swirl the brush in the shampoo, rinse out. I repeat until all the pigments are gone from the brush. Then I lay them flat to dry. Sometimes I spot clean when I don’t have time to do a weekly clean. Overall, they haven’t shed any hairs and they are still dense and soft. I don’t have any issues of the bristles falling out of its barrel. So far so good! I have already bought another set with the fluffy brushes!
