Where I got it: I bought this online from Apotheka Boutique for $75.00. Pretty much the most expensive primer I have ever bought, but this has been highly rated by Wayne Goss as well as Beautypedia as the best primer for oily skin! I have been looking for something that helps with oil control and pore minimizing so I’ve got to give this a try!
What I got: This is a 40ml tube of Becca’s Ever-Matte Poreless Priming Perfector. BECCA’s Ever-Matte Poreless Priming Perfector™ is a silicone-free primer that creates an invisible veil perfecting the face, minimizing pores and mattifying even the most oily skins. Ever-Matte Poreless Priming Perfector™ controls oil up to 8 hours for day long shine proof skin. Ever-Matte Poreless Priming Perfector™ may be used alone, before or after foundation to control excess oil while minimizing the appearance of pores. The formula creates a smooth matte surface for long-lasting foundation wear. Lightweight formula is free of: Silicone, Oil, Alcohol and Fragrance.
How I find it: It recommends to use a very small amount, warm it up between your fingertips and pat it over the area you need oil control (I like to pat this directly onto the area and let it dry. This way I won’t be moving semi-dried product if you understand what I mean). Best to apply under makeup, but it can also be applied over makeup. I have tried a few different ways to use this primer here are my tips:
- DO NOT use too much product! I work area by area – for example I focus on the nose, then my forehead between my brows, and a little bit on my cheeks.
- I only go with one layer and never go for a second layer because once you pat it on, it dries down pretty quick and it almost looks like a bit of a white cast over.
- DO NOT RUB the product in, especially if you are apply over makeup! It will move and ruin your foundation or face makeup – PAT.
- Experiment with what you use under and over the product. I find that this product doesn’t work so well with my gel type moisturiser so I need to use something else if I intend to use this primer.
- Apply foundation over this with gentle strokes or even stipple/patting motions. Do not smear or buff because it will move the primer and cause it to go patchy.
Overall: This primer lasted me more than 8 hours and this is by far the most effective primer for oily skin I have used. However the down side is how difficult or troublesome it is to apply this or to work around it. I try not to touch the area because it will move it an make it look patchy. If you do need to touch up, blot and touch up with patting motions. You only need a very tiny amount so this 40mL tube will last me forever, but hopefully it won’t dry up in the tube! I love using this with my Smashbox BB Water at the moment (loose setting powder to set) to give me a natural look with sheer coverage – I hate looking dead flat matte so a little dewy is good, but my nose is either matte or oily, so this combination works just great.
