Where I got it: I was sent this for consideration. Ardell is already well known for their false eyelashed and now Ardell has a full range of products specifically tailored for shaping and perfecting your brows! Ardell brow products are available from leading pharmacies nationwide.
What I got: These are new Ardell Pro Brow Pomade and Mechanical Pencil both in dark brown. They also have a Brow Defining Kit ($29.99), Brow Sculpting Gel ($11.99) and a Lash & Brow Accelerator ($14.99).
How I find it:
Ardell Pro Brow Mechanical Pencil ($12.99). It has a dual purpose triangle tip for either drawing precise brow hairs or the wider too to create a fuller brow and filling in colour. The shade is just perfect for me and the texture of the pencil is just right. It is not waxy or too soft. You only need a little pressure to get good pigmentation. It comes with a spoolie at the end for brush out excess or tidying the brow hairs. Twist up and down pencil makes it easy to use on the go and no sharpening required. However the sharp tip doesn’t stay sharp to the point so I just like to use this to fill in my brows.
Ardell Pro Brow Pomade ($16.99). After the hype caused by Anastasia Dip Brow Pomade, brands are making their own version. With Chi Chi making an affordable version, Ardell is also out with another one. This one also comes in a little glass pot with a plastic black lid. The formula of this one is actually a little bit on the harder and drier side compared to the ABH Dip Brow, but I find this much easier to control in terms of getting the right amount of pigment – not too much. I dip the brush that it comes with into the product and gently wipe off any excess on the back of my hand and I start to fill in my brows. It is not as gel/creamy as the ABH, but it looks really natural and I really like it. I always start drawing my brows with an angled brush when using a pomade like this starting from the middle of my brows and then extend the ends as I don’t have enough hair. Then I use the remaining product on the brush to build up a bit more colour to the head of my brows so it looks more natural. I don’t like too thick brows that are too perfect like you see on Instagram and I really like straight brows so I try to make it as straight as it looks natural on me. Lasts all day without melting or moving. Awesome stuff.
Overall: Pretty good the their price range – it is for sure a good cheaper alternative to the ABH Dip Brow and I think it is easier to control as well. Comes with a brush which is always a bonus! The mechanical pencil with a spoolie is very handy to put in my makeup bag for touch-ups and tidy up from day to night looks. However, the tip doesn’t stay sharp after a few strokes. Nevertheless, good value for money and I will have these handy in my makeup drawer!
