Where I got it: I was sent these for consideration and it is actually my first time trying products from Bondi Sands. I have heard heaps of great stuff about their products and I’m quite excited to try them! They should be readily available from leading pharmacies. Click here to find stockists. Bondi Sands are made in Australia, never tested on animals and are suitable for all ages.
What I got: I was sent the Bondi Sands Everyday Gradual Tanning Milk and the Bondi Sands Dark Wash Off. Bondi Sands has a good range of self-tanning products. Their Self Tanning Foam and Lotion dries in seconds that can be washed off after 1 hour and lasts between 5-7 days. Their self tanning oil, Liquid Gold, provides the longest lasting tan and conveniently requires no wash off. Their Everyday Gradual Tanning Milk assists in the longevity of your tan, but alone it builds gradually to your liking. Once you’ve achieved the golden tan you’re after, you can apply every 2 – 3 days. A great start if you’re hesitant to try a self-tanning foam or lotion straight away. They also offer light/medium to dark shades to suit your preference.
How I find it:
Bondi Sands Everyday Gradual Tanning Milk (RRP$23.99). Bondi Sands Gradual Tanning Milk with innovative dual action formula hydrates and nourishes your skin while giving you a golden glow all year round. Enriched with Aloe Vera, Vitamin E and a delicious Cocoa Butter scent this tanning milk is perfect for everyday use.
Personally, I am not a regular self-tanner but I do like a bit of colour on my arms and body especially during winter time. However, I do prefer a more gentle and gradual tan instead of a straight dark tan that doesn’t really match my face. I have a slightly darker skin tone on my face compared to my body so I try to match them as close as possible. This is a great gradual self-tanning milk that provides moisture and at the same time builds up a natural looking tan over a couple of days so I don’t step out looking super tanned overnight (not my preference, but I know some people really love a dark tan). After a shower, I wipe myself down and I use about 1 pump for each leg up to my thighs, 1 more pump for my buttocks and another pump for both my arms. It smells really nice and is not too greasy and I love using something like this because you don’t really need to do a lot of prep work before use like exfoliation or worry about making a mess of the bathroom. Make sure you wash your hands afterwards!
Bondi Sands Dark Wash Off (RRP$18.99). To top up your tan or for extra colour Bondi Sands Wash Off Dark has you covered. Simple to apply for naturally glowing skin, this instant tan is transfer resistant and easily washes off with warm soapy water. Perfect for when you forgot to tan the night before. Use the Dark Wash Off if you have an olive complexion or prefer a darker tan.
Initially, I was a little skeptical about using this as it does state dark tan and I don’t really have a natural olive or dark skin tone and I do prefer my tan gentle rather than dark. However, when I see that it is a wash off, I was a little more relaxed as I can wash it off if it does go wrong or if I didn’t like it. So there is a little prep work to use this. I would exfoliate and shave in the shower before I use this.
Once my skin is completely clean and dry (if your skin is really dry to the point of dry flaky patches, I would suggest moisturising your skin for a few days before apply any self-tanner because they can get into dry areas easily and it won’t be a good look. Otherwise, try to gradual tanning milk that tans as it moisturises!), I give the can a few good shakes and then spray the product directly onto my skin. I prefer to do this closer to my skin around 5cm away so that the product doesn’t get onto anywhere else except for my skin. I do a few small sprays and work it in with either my bare hands or the applicator mitt (sold separately) for an even application. I am quite surprised that the formula is really easy to spread and blend out. No streaks if you don’t over-spray one single area and blend the product as you go. Really impressed with the results even though I thought it would be too dark for me.
So that’s basically done! Nice a quick with minimal dry-down time. Make sure you wash your hands or the mitt after application with just soap and water. I got dressed straight away and there were no rub-offs! After an entire day, my tan is still going strong and I simply washed it off in the shower with my normal body cleanser! No harsh scrubbing required. I’m loving it!
Overall: I really enjoy the Bondi Sands Gradual Tanning Milk as it is a 2-in-1 product that can moisturise my body as well as give my skin a natural tan that I can build up or dial down by skipping a day. I love the versatility of this milk and how it smells as well. I will continue to use this even in summer time. For the Dark Wash Off, it is a great product as a top up or emergency tan that you don’t have to commit. I just need to be really careful when I spray the product onto my skin as I don’t want any to get onto my tiles or the bathroom mat. I quite like applying this with my hands which were easier to wash off and control in my opinion compared to the mitt.
