Make-up Atelier Fluid Concealer

Where I got it: I have heard of this brand from Wayne Goss for a while now, but it has always been really high coverage foundation palette or concealer palette that is suitable for makeup artists as it has a range of shades. But when I got an email from Beautylish for these fluid concealers, I was really interested. So I ordered these from Beautylish right away for USD$18 each. I ordered it on 13/10/16 and it arrived on 26/10/16.

What I got: This is the Make-up Atelier Fluid Concealer in FLWA1Y Yellow Clear and FLWA1 Clear Apricot. The Fluid Concealer is a weightless concealer and colour corrector that leaves behind a natural, naked-skin finish. Comes in 15 shades in total, this concealer has a waterproof formula that covers imperfections and corrects discoloration without altering the natural texture of your skin, leaving behind a seamless, no-makeup finish. It is formulated with emollient oils for a lightweight, smooth texture that blends easily without caking or creasing. It has micronized mica pigments reflect light to instantly diffuse the look of dark spots, redness, and discoloration.

These are the tips to finding your shade:

  • Cool undertones: choose a shade from the Apricot range (FLWA1-3).
  • Warm undertones: choose a shade from the Gilded range (FLWA1Y-3Y). Very pale and porcelain skin: choose Porcelain FLWAP or Apricot FLWA0.
  • Tan complexions: choose Apricot FLWA4.
  • Deep, dark, and ebony skin tones: choose a shade from the Dark range (FLWAPN1-3).
  • To correct or brighten dark circles on cool or warm undertones: choose a shade from the Apricot range (FLWA1-3).
  • To correct redness: choose a shade from the Olive range (FLWCV1-2).

How I find it: I chose shades from the warm undertone shade range and more on the lighter skin-tone. It comes in a small cardboard box with a simple logo and description of the product. The tube is a nice sturdy clear glass tube with a plastic black screw top lid. You can clearly see the shade of the concealer from the tub. A little thicker than your usual concealer tube, this is really easy to hold. The product inside is pretty fluid – it is not a thick creamy concealer but a lightweight but highly pigmented concealer that you only need a little. I love using this on my under-eye area because it is no cakey and not drying to my skin. Sometimes I do have dry skin around my eyes, but nothing that a good eye cream can’t help. Just apply eye cream to the eye area, wait for it to fully absorb and apply the concealer directly.

I like to use 3 dots directly to the dark circles for each eye, then use whatever is left on the wand to the rest of the area between my eyes and cheeks. I then blend the concealer with either my fingers or a damp mini sponge. I actually prefer my fingertips because it does not absorb the product and it conceals and corrects my dark circles pretty well. I like to set mine with a bit of Laura Mercier Secrete Brightening Powder to avoid it sinking into any lines, but this is so lightweight you probably don’t need to use any powder at all if you don’t want to. I use the Yellow Clear as a concealer and the Clear Apricot as a corrector as it has a more yellow/orange tone to it.

Overall: We have some pretty high coverage concealers here and they are super light-weight. They are waterproof and are quite fluid which can be a little drying for people with dry skin. Make sure you apply eye cream or hydrate the eye area before using this. Not necessary to powder this if you don’t have issues with fine lines or if you don’t usually have creasing problems. I powder very slightly with a very fine powder and it lasts all day long without oxidising, fading, caking or flaking. The shades look really pale on the tube but when blended in they match my skin tone very well. I don’t think this is a product that you would want to build layers with because it is quite pigmented. If you need full coverage just don’t blend it too thin. I would probably only use this on my under eye area and maybe any dark spots around the face but not on any active blemishes or peeling blemishes. These are quite pigmented so these tubes will last be a very long time.
