Where I got it: I ordered this from the BH cosmetics website for USD$14.50 (on sale from $20.00). I actually haven’t visited their website before but heard of the brand. I’m so excited to see their really affordable prices and that their shipping to New Zealand was really reasonable! I ordered this on 5/9/16 and it arrived on 16/9/16.
What I got: This is the BH cosmetics x Carli Bybel eye shadow and highlighter palette. Beauty expert and YouTube sensation Carli Bybel designed this versatile 14 Color Eyeshadow and Highlighter Palette to dial up the drama and add excitement to your look. Carli’s taste for chic refinement and modern elegance inspired her to select a collection of earthy neutrals and plummy brown shadows with four face highlighters that complement every skin tone. The mix of mattes and shimmers makes it easy to go from amped-up evening intensity to toned-down daytime options. This palette is vegan, paraben free, clinically tested, non-irritating, allergy tested and is also cruelty-free!
How I find it: The palette has a sturdy cardboard base with a decent sized mirror. It doesn’t come with any brushes which I’m not worried about anyway. There are 10 neutral, earthy eyeshadow shades where 5 of them are matte and 5 of them are shimmery. The colours really complement each other and can easily create everyday looks and night time looks just with this palette alone. The shimmery shades are really buttery but the matte shades needed a bit of building up of pigment.
Overall: Even though I don’t wear eyeshadow every day, I do like to wear a bit of colour on my cheeks when I go out (blush and highlighter a must). About once or twice a week I would wear some colours on my eyes to work and when I have somewhere to go in the weekend I would wear a bit more colour on the eyes. This palette has really nice shades for single colour application as well as a combination of shades to create smokey eye looks. The shades complement each other very well and the creamy texture feels great on the skin. However the highlighter/bronzing shades are a bit too dark for my skin tone. I will mostly be using them as eyeshadow as well.
