MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour

Where I got it: I got this from my local MAC store in Botany Town Centre for $50.

What I got: This is the new MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour in So Me. For those who prefer timeless glamour to all-out flash, matte reigns supreme. The MAC innovation on this classic texture is back with 12 new saturated shades of retro matte liquid lipcolour in on-trend muted and deep ones. Each promise one thing: a big splash of colour in liquid-suede finish that’s impossible to forget.

How I find it: So Me is a ‘greyed plum’ shade. It is my first MAC liquid lip colour and I was quite blown away with the finish and texture. It dries down matte within 2 minutes and feels really lightweight and not stick at all. I like to gently exfoliate my lips before I use any matte liquid lip product. So I usually just use my usual lip balm and a toothbrush, or a lip scrub. Then I prep my lips with a lip balm and leave that on for about 5-10 minutes while I do my other makeup. Then I wipe off the lip balm and apply the liquid lip colour. I start with a cross at the top of my lips and then connect the outer corners to the centre. Then I fill in the bottom lip. It applies like a dream and does not run or streak. The applicator has a narrow tip and a wider base for an effective application. I use a total of 2 dips into the product for a full lip application.

Overall: Really moody and on-trend shades available at the moment. They are not your usual shades, but they are not bright and bold so I really like them. It is something different from my usual lip colours. I love the finish and application. You do need to make sure you have well-exfoliated lips and prep you lips with a lip balm beforehand. I think another way help with better application, apply a lip liner before a liquid lip colour so that the edges looks tidier.
