Cover FX Custom Enhancer Drops

Cover FX Custom Enhancer Drops

Where I got it: When the first lot of custom enhancer drops came out, I was really interested because I already love the Cover FX Custom Drops already and by how much I LOVE highlighters and illuminators, these sound amazing. However, at USD$42 a pop, there were not the most affordable (even though the cost per use is really great value as a little goes a very very long way – they are so pigmented!). Plus, I already had so much similar shades of highlighters already, I dorpped the intention of getting 1 or 2 bottles, until now. Recently Cover FX came out with 3 new shades – Halo, Blossom and Rose Gold. Halo is the most amazing holographic, iridescent shade with a blue/lavender sheen. I was between Rose Gold and Blossom, and I ended up choosing Rose Gold (a little regret that I didn’t pick up Blossom as it looks more wearable for me) which is a pearlescent pink bronze. They are available on the CoverFX website, but they do not ship to New Zealand. So I got mine from Beautylish and I have been shopping from them for such a long time. I ordered on 20/3 and it arrived on 30/3.

What I got: I bought 2 bottles of the Cover FX Custom Enhancer Drops in Halo and Rose Gold. These are 2 out of 3 of the latest shades available from the Custom Enhancer Drops.  From the Cover FX website: “Ultra-concentrated illuminating and bronzing drops that allow you to customise your ideal glow with a liquid metal or sunkissed finish. Available in nine universal shades, including seven illuminators and two matte bronzers, these customizable drops can be used to create a buildable highlight or sunkissed tint.  Use them alone for a light reflective strobing or bronzing effect even on top of powder, or add them to your favourite liquid foundation or skincare product for an all-over glow. Formulated with a high concentration of ultra-refined pearls, the two bronzing drops (Sunkissed and Sunset) offer a natural matte finish and the seven illuminating drops produce a liquid metal finish. The more drops you use, the more luminosity or bronze you’ll get, allowing you to customise your glow.”

How I find it: Each bottle comes inside a box with directions and ingredients list printed on (the box only refers to existing shades, not Halo, Blossom and Rose Gold, but I assume they have the same formulation, just different pigment shades). It came in the usual 15ml glass bottle with a glass dropper. Shake well before use and I was half expecting the formula to be much thicker than it actually came out in the bottle. Swatching these neat gave the most amazing metallic and holographic effect and they are super impressive! You can use these neat, fix them with your foundation or BB cream, mix these with your moisturiser, primer, etc. The possibilities are endless! Some makeup gurus online also use these neat on the eyes as inner corner brighteners! Smart eh?

Personally, I love mixing it in with a moisturiser or a primer when I’m not wearing any foundation. If I were to wear foundation and wanted some glow, I would wear a dewy foundation (which I don’t usually go for because I have combination/oily skin). Another was I like to use this is on its own as a liquid highlighter. I would put a drop on the back of my hand and use either my fingertips or a soft fluffy brush to apply it on my cheekbones, cupids bow, the tip of my nose and down the bridge of my nose. The halo shade looks amazing on the cheekbones and in the inner corners of my eyes. Rose Gold looks great when I have a bit of a tan or as an eyeshadow shade!

Overall: The formula and effect of these liquid highlighters blew me away. They are such high-quality products you can feel on your fingertips and see with your eyes. USD$42 is definitely worth saving if you need to get a good quality highlighter that will last you a long time/many applications. The versatility and pigmentation prove that this is one my holy grails in highlighters (ColourPop Super Shock Cheeks are also my favourites if you are on a budget). I will definitely recommend these and I would possibly buy the Blossom shade in the future as well.

Many other brands are starting to launch holographic highlighters now and they are all so tempting – Becca’s Prismatic Amethyst pressed highlighter, Urban Decay Naked Skin Highlighting Fluid in Skywalker (pale blue, OMG), Kat Von D Alchemist Holographic Palette, etc.

Wow, the Halo shade is just beautiful! I picked up the Becca Amethyst highlighter (I justified it because it was my birthday, haha) and I love it but the Halo drops are something else!
