Clarins Makeup

I recently entered and won a competition by Clarins that was held on their Facebook page and Instagram account. They sent me a couple of their makeup products including their latest Mascara Supra Volume! So let’s check out what I’ve got here!

Clarins Mascara Supra Volume in 01 Black (RRP$50). Also in Brown. The Supra Volume Mascara intensifies and enhances eyelashes with extra care.
Cassia flower wax is used in the formula for instant volume and intense colour. With regular application, the Volume Boost complex increases the volume of your lashes by 17.6%*. Lashes can appear fuller after four weeks of use.

This mascara has a medium sized straight wand with a relatively dry, matte formula. The mascara applies evenly and without clumping. The brush seems to get the job done pretty well without accidental mess-up on my smaller Asian eyes. However the formula isn’t waterproof so after about 5-6 hours of wear, it did start to migrate to my undereye area (just a little bit). When that happen, I dusted a small amount of RCMA No Colour Powder to my lashes and my undereye area and the mascara did not migrate anymore. The mascara did make my lashes more volumised as well as separated and held it’s curl quite well. Smells amazing as well like a bunch of flowers!! I have never used a mascara that smells this good!

Clarins Moisturising Long-wearing Lipstick in 742 Joli Rouge (RRP$50.00). Enriched with organic Salicornia extract and mango oil, Joli Rouge intensely moisturises the lips for 6 hours and provides suppleness and comfort. The long-wearing colour stays on for 6 hours. For beautiful lips, simply.

Where do I begin with this lipstick…? It’s packaging looks simple and elegant, from the tube you can’t see it’s shade so that is a bit of a bummer, but the gold mirror finish of the bullet is simply beautiful. The lipstick itself blew me away when I opened the cap. The cool-toned red looks almost like a true red on a screen siren! I thought it was too good to be true and that it would have looked different on my lips. But when I applied it, goodness the formula glides on amazingly smooth and has a beautiful glossy sheen that is not sticky and not heavy at all. It feels like a lip balm but really pigmented and looks true to its colour! This red shade is what I have been looking for and it is GORGEOUS! It makes me teeth whiter, brightens up my whole complexion and does not bleed! I don’t even need a lip liner!!

Clarins 4-Colour Eyeshadow Palette in shade 02 Rosewood (RRP$87.00). The eye shadows in this palette contain sensory mineral textures with immediate results that allow adjustable, smooth and high-resistance makeup while nurturing the eyelids. Satin, matte or iridescent, the eyeshadows can be mixed and matched for your desired look.

First of all, the packaging of this eyeshadow palette is super elegant and chic, it even comes with a red velvet sleeve! The golden mirror compact encases 4 decent sized eyeshadow shades, a dual-ended sponge applicator and a good sized mirror. All 4 shades have a satin finish and complement each other. They are soft and pigmented shadows that do not kick up dust and are not chalky. They swatch very well and applied very well with brushes as well.

I applied the lightest shade all over my lid and my brow bone area as a base, then I use the second shade to my lids for some colour. I used the last shade on my outer corner (I don’t have much of a crease area, so I didn’t bring my shadows too far out). Lastly, I used a smaller, pointier brush to pick up the third shade as a liner shade to my upper lash line. I also used a shimmery champagne eyeliner pencil to line my lower lashline.

Overall: I am thoroughly impressed with Clarins products once again. When I first tried their skincare, I was impressed and fell in love, then it was their body products and now their makeup as well. They are high quality, they work and their shades are really appealing to me. My favourite one, if I need to pick, would be the lipstick. Everything from formula to the shade, the finish and the packaging is perfect in my opinion. The mascara is nice but would have been perfect if it is waterproof. Anyway, I will definitely try other lipstick shades as well as try their face makeup.
