Where I got it: I got this from an auction on a facebook makeup group where the money goes to a selected charity. I won this for $31 on the auction and this retails for NZD$52.00 at The Body Shop.
What I got: This is a bottle of The Body Shop Drops of Youth Youth Liquid Peel. This revolutionary gel-to-peel leaves skin clean and purified from the day’s pollutants. Use after removing make-up on a dry face to gently peel off impurities and dead skin cells from your skin. Skin will instantly feel smoother and softer.
• Gel-to-peel technology
• Gentle way to exfoliate as free from abrasive particles, making it good for sensitive skin
• Leaves skin feeling soft and smooth
How I find it: After washing my face, I pat dry and use a full pump of this liquid peel all over my face (it doesn’t work on wet or damp skin, so make sure it is dry). Massage with fingertips until the gel starts to dry up and pilling starts to occur. The liquid gel is quite heavily laden with alcohol (you can smell it) so it will dry up pretty quick. Simply wash off with water to reveal baby-smooth skin.
A common misconception on these peeling products are the bits that are rubbed off, or pilled up are all dead skin. However, that is not the case. The formula of these peeling products contain ingredients that react with each other when in contact with skin and air (evaporation), some ingredients will evaporate causing another product to combine with the dead skin cells on your skin to create bits that resemble eraser shavings. Therefore the rubbed off bits are not entirely dead skin cells, but only a small amount mixed with other ingredients of the product.
Overall: Peeling lotions/milk/gels have been popular in Asia countries for a long time, so I have tried a few already and they all pretty much do the same thing. This liquid peel can be quite drying on the skin if you have dry skin. I would use this once a week or when I feel my skin is congested. I also like to use this on my hands and body (knees, ankles, etc.) to help get rid of dead skin. This would be quite a good exfoliator if you don’t like abrasive scrubs.
