Where I got it: This limited edition highlighter is available from most Lancôme counters for RRP$78.00. I got mine from Life Pharmacy.
How I find it: This is not my first cushion product from Lancôme. My first one was a cushion blush. This is the only shade in this Olympia collection and the packaging is quite unique. It has fabric decorations on the top complete with stitchings. When you open it up, it is a black plastic compact with a special sponge for the cushion compact. Peel off the protective seal and you will find the sponge holds heaps of product that looks somewhat like foundation or concealer. The highlighter doesn’t look shimmery at all and I was a bit sceptical. I tried it on the back of my hand and when I blend it out, I can see the beautiful subtle glow with a very fine silvery sheen to the skin. Honestly, I wouldn’t use the cushion applicator to apply a cushion highlighter because I think it will apply too much and it is hard to control. I like to use a mini blender sponge to apply.
Overall: First of all, the packaging is quite cute but it’s not so practical as it will be dirty quite easily and will be difficult to clean. Regardless, the cushion compact is quite the same thing you see everywhere, but what surprised me was the shade of the highlighter in the compact. I picked it up with my fingertip and immediately it looked like foundation! It had beige pigment which looked quite opaque. I was expecting a shimmery highlighter that did not have such a solid pigment underneath. However, when I blend it out, the pigment almost disappears and it leaves a subtle silvery sheen on the skin, not shimmery at all. It is subtle but pretty. It looks like there is too much product in the compact to the point that the sponge can’t hold it all.
