Lancôme x Olympia Olympia’s Wonderland Palette

Where I got it: I got this from my local Lancôme counter for RRP$120. This is acutally limited edition and no longer available. You might be able to find it online, but I cannot be certain if it is authentic.

What I got: This is the Lancôme x Olympia Olympia’s Wonderland Palette. (from lancome.com) Olympia Le Tan and Lancôme unveil a wildly desirable collector’s item: the first make-up palette to perfectly mirror the designer’s minaudière clutch-books. Just like the handbags that inspired it, this unprecedented palette is sheathed in cotton embroideries patterned like the cover of an antique book.

How I find it: First of all, the eyeshadow shades are on the purple and grey palette. Nommé Désir 1971 is a muted white that is suitable as an all over base shade. Paradis 1956 and Brun Nacré 1965 are the main shade that can be used all over the lid. Paradis is a deep plum/purple shade with a satin finish. Brun Nacré is a silvery grey with a purple undertone which can be used as an all over shade or a crease shade. Lastly, Gris Agent 1988 is a beautiful white silver shade with a shimmery finish, great for the inner corners and probably centre of the lids.

The big centre shade is a deep pink matte blush. It is really pigment so pick up just a little bit and remember to tap off any excess. The small shade under it called La Base 1960 is a tinted lip balm that is used as a base for their lip colours. Most of the time I can just use the lip base for a hint of colour and nothing else.

Onto the lip colours. Rouge de Rose 1955 is pretty much the same colour as Paradis with a natural, satin finish. Olympia 1980 is a bright red with an orange undertone. Anémone 1959 is a beautiful pinky red with a satin finish as well. Lastly, the Couture 1962 is a silvery pink with a satin finish, a hint of sparkle.

Overall: Purple and grey shades are not my usual eyeshadow colours but I do like to use these shades with my other palettes. I like to use Paradis with my nude and pinks at the other edge of my eyes, the silvery shimmer shade is great to highlight areas regardless of what colour palette you are working with. As for the lip colours, I would wear all of the shades but I actually don’t like using lip products in a palette because of convenience issues. The blush is probably the one product I use the most in the palette.

I would like to comment on the packaging though. Surely it is cute and interesting as it looks like a book and has a fabric cover. It has a generous mirror and a dual-ended brush (eye shadow and lip only). But this palette is bulky! I would not consider taking this palette out to travel because it is bulky and heavy and does not provide versatile shades for multiple looks. If it was a palette with more variety shades for eyes and lips and blush with a highlighter then I would consider bringing it to travel.
