Boujois Sun Illusion Bronzing Primer

Where I got it: I got this from NZsale for $9.90. I don’t see this product available in New Zealand so I’m not too sure where you can get it.

What I got: This is the Boujois Sun Illusion Bronzing Primer in 71 Fair. Also comes in shade 72 dark. With a feather-light texture, Sun Illusion melts effortlessly into your skin to give you a bronzed look that’s perfect for summer. Apply over your foundation, or wear it alone for a naturally sun-kissed appearance.

How I find it: Initially when I ordered this, I haven’t looked through any online reviews or video reviews so I was under the impression that this is similar to that Chanel cream bronzer. With the fraction of the price, I just grabbed it. When I opened the packaging, the shade of this primer is much darker than I thought and instantly I thought “uh-oh, this is gonna make me look so dark and Oompah-Loompa-like”. Then I finger-swatched it on the back of my hand and it felt different to what I expected. It was a mousse-like texture, much like a mousse foundation.

When I blend it on the skin the Bronzing effect cane through unexpectedly seamlessly and smoothly. The silicone in this primer surely blurs and refined the look of my pores and fine lines and created a smooth surface for my foundation. The subtle tan that it gives is really quite pretty and I can honestly rock that hint of tan easily even without foundation on top.
I tried using this as a cream bronzer over my foundation and it also works great. I just buff it on top of foundation with a kabuki brush lightly to avoid moving my foundation too much.

Overall: Really interesting product, I would say this is my first ever bronzing primer because I am not big on bronzing or tanning my skin (typical Asian), I prefer brightening and whitening. Anyway, this primer gives my skin a more even look in terms of my skin tone and blurs my pores. I was a little worried that the silicone ingredient would not work so well with my foundation and pill up on me but that did not happen at all, but I did use a beauty sponge to apply foundation so there was minimal tugging and rubbing that could potentially cause pilling.
