Where I got it: I got this from my local Kmart for $14.00. It’s not super cheap for 14ml of product, so let’s see how this goes.
What I got: This is a 14ml bottle of the ELF Hydrating Face Primer. The primer transforms your face into a flawless, smooth canvas ideal for long-lasting makeup application. The formula is infused with grape, Vitamins A, C, & E to help boost complexion and hydrate your skin.
How I find it: I usually go for colour correcting or pore-refining primers, but lately, I noticed that some areas of my face is quite dry and foundation looks cakey and crackly. So I am going to try out some hydrating primers to see if it helps. This ELF Hydrating Primer comes in a frosted plastic bottle with a pump and a clear cap. The inside of the bottle has a light blue colour which made me think the primer is blue tinted, but it is actually translucent white. About 2 pump would fully cover the entire face, but I would only use either half a pump or a full pump because I only put it where I need it.
The primer is silicone-based with dimethicone being close to the top of the ingredients list. Therefore it glides onto the skin effortlessly and smoothes out pores while providing moisture to the skin. If you don’t like that silicone feeling or is sensitive to dimethicone (clogged pores), you may want to steer away from this primer.
Overall: The primer gets absorbed quickly with a silicon-smooth feeling on top for the foundation to glide on smoothly. I have oily/combination skin and this primer gives me enough hydration without being heavy or sticky so I could imagine if you have dry skin, this might not be enough for you. I couldn’t really see how it made my makeup last longer, but it did provide some hydration to my skin without feeling greasy or thick. I would keep using this, but I wouldn’t repurchase because it was nothing special and was not exactly cheap.
