Covergirl Outlast Stay Luminous Foundation

Where I got it: I got this from a recent Brand Outlet sale for $14. I don’t think I have seen this foundation in my local Kmart or Farmers. This is probably a parallel import? Not sure, but the shade range available at the sale was very limited, and the lighting there was quite bad so I’m not sure if this shade even suits me!

What I got: This is the Covergirl Outlast Stay Luminous Foundation in shade 825 Medium Beige. There are 7 shades available on the Covergirl website and there is just one dark shade. Quite disappointed with the shade range. Outlast Stay Luminous Foundation’s oil-free, non-greasy formula gives your skin a natural luminosity that lasts all day! Perfect for achieving radiant skin, this all day foundation hydrates skin while providing flawless coverage.

How I find it: I usually don’t go for luminous or dewy foundation because I have oily skin, but I do prefer a natural looking glow on the skin instead of a super matte look. I think a luminous/glowy look makes you look like you have great skin. I just need to remember to blot more often and probably avoid getting into the sun or getting too hot. Anyway, back to the foundation. It comes in a clear glass bottle with a clear cap and a red pump. I use about 1.5 pumps for the entire face because I don’t like to pile on too much product on my face. The formula is quite creamy when pumped out and it is just like any other liquid foundation. The shade looks alright on the back of my hand, but looks like it has a bit of a pink undertone when compared to another foundation I also got recently (Maybelline SuperStay).

I tried using a beauty sponge and a paddle brush to apply this foundation on 2 separate occasions and I think they are both very similar. The beauty sponge of course soaked up some of the product so I needed a little bit more on my cheeks (my problem area). The foundation looks truly luminous and made my skin very glowy! Immediately after application, my skin looked amazing! I didn’t even need a highlighter to get that natural glowy, glossy skin that doesn’t looks greasy or oily. It does provide medium coverage and with this formula, a second layer wouldn’t look too cakey. However, the oily/combination skin girl that I am, I only applied 1 layer and I had to set everything with a bit of powder. So the powder toned down the glow a little bit, but I’m not mad at it.

Totally loved the glowy look on me and my face looked brighter and so fresh faced, I even had compliments at work! After about 2 hours, my sebum started to creep in and my nose and cheeks started to look a little oily, so I had to blot. However, the rest of my face still looks pretty good. For the rest of the day, I had to blot every 2 hours which moved my foundation quite a bit and started to wear out around my mouth, nose and cheeks.

Overall: I like this foundation but the downside to a dewy foundation on my oily/combination skin is that it doesn’t last long at all. When I get oily, the foundation moved around, my pores started looking weird and when I blot, I take foundation away and it became patchy in areas. I like the dewy look but I would probably only use this when I know I’m only wearing foundation for just a few hours (max 4). I didn’t expect this to my a holy grail foundation for me because it obviously wasn’t the right type of foundation for my skin type to be long-lasting, but I really loved the look that it gives. I think for any normal to dry skin people out there, this would be a beautiful foundation. Now only if they had more shades to choose from!
