Hey everyone, welcome back! So I had my 5th Microdermabrasion (so hard to keep track sometimes) with Caci Clinic as part of my Reformaskin program yesterday (Thursday) and I just wanted to give you guys an update because this time things were a little different afterwards.
As usual, I rock up to the clinic with minimal makeup as you can see in the photo below, I did my brows, mascara, a bit of under eye concealer, some highlighter and a lip stain (currently using the Lancome Matte Shaker which I am really loving). I haven’t been wearing medium/full coverage foundation lately because I feel that I don’t need to. The most I will wear is medium coverage on the weekend if I am going out.
The procedure was the usual double-cleanse, tone and then the microdermabrasion. Afterwards, she used a different cleanser on my face from the previous treatments I had before. This one has a really nice peppermint scent and was really cooling as well. I really liked it and I ended up taking one home. It was the Murad Time Release Acne Cleanser ($64) which I will do a separate review later.
The entire process lasts around 30mins which is perfect for me or anyone who wants to pop in during lunch and still have time for some food and touch up your makeup for work. For me, I had to go out so I took along some travel-friendly products with me and fix up my face in the car (stationary car btw). Just a highlighter pen, brow pencil and a cheek/lip stain. I realised that I should have bought a concealer instead of a highlighter because my skin is naturally glowing post-facial!
So here is the thing that’s a little different this time. At the end of the night when I took off all my makeup and cleanse my face in the shower, I hopped out and applied the Glycolic Toner from The Ordinary. I usually don’t use any acids after a microderm or a collagen induction treatment because I feel that my skin is a little thin and sensitive. Right after the glycolic toner (only 7% which can be used nightly), my face feels tingling almost to the point where I would use the word sting. I seldom experience tingling let alone stinging because my skin can tolerate well with acids. The tingling/stinging didn’t really go away after half a minute after I applied a Hyaluronic Acid serum. It lingered on a good 3-5 minutes after I put a moisturiser on. I purposely applied a calming moisturiser on as well but that did not really help.
My cheeks and neck burn the most which was interesting because the microderm doesn’t reach down my neck. Anyway, there was no redness so I wasn’t too concerned. I slept well that night. In the morning, something similar happened but I did not use the Glycolic Acid toner again or my usual Paula’s Choice 2% BHA liquid. It dissipated much faster than last night. Sooooo strange.
Still not sure what went wrong there, but it is Friday night now and I have had no issues tonight with my skincare routine so far. But overall, I am loving all my microdermabrasions. Even though immediately after the facial I have a little redness, but my skin looked soooo bright and glowing. My skin on the next day is just so smooth and soft, I don’t even need to use any foundation or BB cream or tinted moisturiser!
