Where I got it: Recently, a girlfriend of mine who works at Mecca told me about a new eyeshadow palette by Mecca Max and when I saw the pictures of the shades in the palette, I was sold. The price was very reasonable too at $42! $42 for 15 shades, and they do look gorgeous, is pretty good in my opinion.
What I got: This is the limited edition Mecca Max Beauty Queen Eyeshadow Palette.
The prettiest palette you ever did see – fit for a Beauty Queen! 15 shimmering pigments for eye and face for a spotlight-savvy glow.
- This next-level palette is your new go-to for glisten-packed goodness and lust-worthy payoff, with fifteen blendable and buildable pigments to be used as eyeshadow, blush or highlighter
- Go dreamy and doe-eyed with heavenly hits of high-impact shimmer shades, or go wicked and WOW with stronger tones to deepen your look for downright dark-angel vibes
How I find it: The white plastic palette houses 15 shades with a very generous mirror. The size of the pans are very good and there is absolutely no waste of space. Each pan is said to have 2g of product (30g for the entire palette, without the packaging). I love these compact palettes that does not waste space, I can definitely travel with this.
The shades are absolutely gorgeous, but you will need to use your own matte shades for transition or base colour as this palette only has shimmery shades. Bonus points added is that this is a multi-use palette meaning that you can use these as eyeshadow, blush or highlighter.
The pigmentation of these shadows are there and they are not the the least bit powdery and chunky. You don’t really need a primer but with shimmery shades, it is probably better to lay down a matte overall shade over a primer to make these shades pop even more.
Here are some swatches of the shades from the top row starting from the left.
The top row starts with a rather simple looking white gold shade, the second shade is a silvery white shade, the third shade is a more beige toned light gold, the 4th shade is a really pretty subtle coral pink. The last shade on this row is a mixture of pink and peacock blue which mixes together to a pinky green shift with a hint of blue.
The second row is full of corals and pinks. The first shade is a vibrant pink. The second shade is a beautiful orangey pink with a gold shift. The third shade is a frosty light pink. 4th shade is a beautiful coppery orange with a golden shift. The last shade is a silvery purple.
The last row has the darker shades. The first one in the row is a really interesting brown and green duo chrome. The next one is a light pink with a pale gold shimmer. The third one is a bright pink with an almost violet shimmer. Then we have a golden brown with a slight pink sheen. The last one is the darkest shade of the palette, it is a dark grey with a purple metallic sheen.
Overall: The palette is a delight, from packaging to pigmentation to smoothness and staying power, this palette ticks all the boxes. I am so glad I got this palette. The shadows are never chalky or powdery, minimal fall-out and the pigmentation is even and blends out easily. The only downside is that this palette is full of shimmery, metallic and duo-chromatic shades. There are no matte transition shades and the majority of the shades are pinks and corals. Also, the marble-effect of each shade doesn’t convey the same shade until you mix up the colours, so what you see might not be what you get. Nonetheless, I love this palette, it is already so good to look at! The marbling of each shade is so pretty and each palette is just a little different to another.
If you have a chance, go and swatch these shades in person and you will know what I mean!
