Where I got it: Life Pharmacy has a triple point special for all skincare, makeup, and fragrance so I took the opportunity to pick up some new primers and skincare item I have been wanting to try. Primers are $66 each. Selina, who is the sales manager at Clarins in the Botany Life Pharmacy is super nice and helpful. She tested out the peach, lavender and also the rose shade on my skin for me to see the difference.
What I got: These are the Clarins SOS Primers. I got shades 02 Peach and 05 Lavender. It also comes in 4 other colour-correcting and brightening shades and 2 bronzing shades (not yet available in NZ). Clarins’ exclusive High Lumitech Complex visibly neutralizes, illuminates and blurs imperfections—prepping skin for make-up application that is impeccable and long-lasting. It minimises signs of fatigue, hydrates for 24 hours, helps protect skin from environmental aggressors and is lightweight and oil-free.
How I find it: As these primers do not contain SPF protection, they are less likely to cause flash-back, but I would definitely need to apply a sunscreen underneath. Usually I use a primer with sunscreen to avoid extra layers of product. However this primer is not very heavy on the skin after the product is all blended in.
I have the lavender shade to target my yellow undertone skin where I get dullness like around my mouth and chin area. When I have time on my hands I would use the lavender shade around my mouth and chin area, another green primer to my cheeks and pore-minimising primer to my nose and forehead area. When I don’t have much time. I use the lavender primer all over my face to brighten my complexion, then the peach shade all over that as well. Lately, I have just been using these two primers without my foundation on top, just a bit of under eye concealer. My skin looks natural but brightened and overall even toned.
Overall: Out of the two, the lavender shade works best for me. It brightens my overall skin tone without making me look ashy. I can use the peach shade over the lavender shade but I would probably not use a foundation over it or I would use something very lightweight because it would be too much layering. The primers itself is not sticky or greasy but it has a nice light cream texture – no silicone slipperiness at all which some people would prefer. It has just the right pigmentation for colour-correcting without masking your skin or blending to nothingness.
