Where I got it: I got this about a month ago from the Beauty Bliss store in New Market for $14.00. Makeup Revolution has been on my radar for a long time as they have really beautiful palettes and products at very affordable prices. However, the downside is the shipping costs to New Zealand if I were to order directly from their website. I am so glad that Beauty Bliss now stocks more and more of their products including this stock foundation, some of their liquid highlighters and now their Concealer & Define concealers too! Sooo excited!
What I got: This is the Makeup Revolution Fast Base Stick Foundation in shade F5. Fast Base Foundation quickly perfects, contours and highlights your complexion. The easy-to-apply stick formula melts into skin, blending seamlessly to leave a fresh and dewy finish. Twist up, swipe on and blend out with fingers, a beauty sponge or your favourite foundation brush. Shade F5 has been described on the BeautyBliss website as “For light skin tones with pink undertone”.
How I find it: I have used stick foundations before and I really quite like them. They are convenient, portable and mess free. They are usually on the matte spectrum and have medium to full coverage. This stick foundation has a beautiful nude packaging on the outside and rose gold on the inside
I always use a colour-correcting primer or a pore-minimising primer, let that settle and I will swipe the stick foundation directly onto my face. About 3 swipes across each cheek, 1 on each jawline, on the chin and a few across the forehead. Most of the time I use a damp sponge to blend the foundation to get a more natural look and medium coverage. If I use a dense brush, it would take a bit longer to blend to a flawless finish but would achieve a fuller coverage.
Overall: For $14, this foundation stick is pretty awesome. The shade match for me is really good, which I was quite surprised after reading online on how they described shade F5 would be “For light skin tones with pink undertone”. I shade matched myself at the store so I was not guessing my shade by buying online, otherwise, I would be getting shade F4 or F6.
The foundation glides onto my face smoothly without dragging as the formula is really creamy. The packaging is cute and clean, the no-mess application is a big thumbs up. For thicker formulas like a stick foundation, using a dense paddle brush to blend is the best way to go in my opinion, but I do like to use a damp beauty sponge over it to refine any brush strokes. I wouldn’t say this is a dewy finish, but more like a natural finish. It stays on my combination oily skin quite well without moving around or fading, but it did collect around my nose and where I have a few fine lines.
This is not my first Makeup Revolution product as I have tried their powder contour palette and highlighter palettes. I definitely think I will try more in the future.
