NYX Studio Perfect Photo-loving Primer

Where I got it: I got this from Farmers a few weeks back when NYX was having their special 40% off everything sale. I got this primer for $14.67 along with their Powder Puff Lippie and a Duo Chromatic Illuminating Powder. After the sale, this is RRP$24.45.

What I got: This is the Studio Perfect Photo-loving Primer by NYX in Green. Prepare your canvas with our silky primer. The Studio Perfect Primer formula is easily absorbed, creates a smooth surface for foundation, and ensures the longevity of your makeup. Clear to cover fine lines and large pores.

How I find it: This is a silicone-based primer with a green tint. The semi-translucent primer comes out of the tube like a gel and applied smoothly over the skin. The green pigment is really light and once blended in, it becomes invisible. Skin is smoothed out and slightly slippery. It takes a bit of time for the primer to settle in and I usually don’t have time to wait for it to dry down completely. I apply foundation pretty much right away and that seems to be OK. I have tried using a liquid foundation, stick foundation and BB creams, cushion foundations and powder foundations. They all work fine over this primer so far.

Overall: This primer smooths out the skin, but since the green pigment is so light and blends out invisible, it doesn’t really do what it is meant to do – counteract redness. I think the opacity of this primer is too low therefore I can only comment on how smooth my skin feels and looks once I put this on, but for counteracting redness, this does not make the cut for me. I will continue using this primer but only when I feel like it or when I need some extra smoothing because a primer that does not contain SPF or colour-correct is just an extra layer of product that I don’t really need or want.
