Hourglass Veil Retouching Fluid

Where I got it: I got this from a Mecca Cosmetica trip a little while ago for $54. If you don’t know already, I am a big fan of Hourglass cosmetics and my obsession is growing! The quality of their products are superior and the packaging is just top-notch.

What I got: This is the Hourglass Veil Retouching Fluid in Natural. This one-and-done wonder stick instantly adds a touch of brightness on those “no-makeup makeup” days, perfect for undereye touch ups and adding a little radiance where required!

This lightweight, multi-use serum-like formula instantly refreshes and retouches the complexion. It is perfect for use as an undereye concealer, without the fear of product creasing or drying out, as well as applying to any area of the face that needs a little touch of hydration and radiant concealing.

It has a hydrating blend of hyaluronic acid, plant water extract and grapefruit extract to keep skin nourished, healthy and radiant.

How I find it: First of all, this looks and feels like a concealer, but in fact, it is a multi-use product that you can use to retouch your foundation during the day or as a light-coverage concealer or brightener. I have been using this as an under eye concealer and generally around my face for highlighting and I really like it. It has a thin consistency therefore it is really easy to blend out and will not look cakey. However. it is a sheer coverage product so don’t expect too much coverage. I like to pat it in with my ring finger or one of their tiny little beauty sponge to get around the smaller areas.

I have also tried using this as a touch-up product on top of makeup. It is a nice size to bring in my handbag but I probably won’t touch up a lot during the day unless I am going from work to event or work straight to dinner or a night out. Otherwise, I always prefer to go home and possibly redo my makeup or do a proper touch-up with the foundation I used that day and some powder as well. As a touch-up, I would blot my face first and apply a bit of hydrating product to the areas first, let that settle in for a while. I like to apply the product to the back of my hand, warm it up and thin it down on the back of my hand then pat it onto the areas I need to touch-up. I can’t say that I love that look of having my makeup being touched up on top of what I have already worn for a couple of hours because foundation tend to move around little with my oily areas and that is always hard to touch up.

Overall: With the thin texture of this retouching fluid and how sheer to coverage is, I would say this would be a good retouching product if you do need to retouch your makeup during the day. I personally like to use this as a natural-looking under eye concealer when I am going for a day-to-day look that is not too made up and looking like I’m not wearing any makeup. It is easy to blend and not cakey so I don’t need to worry much about creasing or dryness around the eye area. If I do need to bring a touch-up product, I would definitely bring this along with maybe a cushion foundation on where I need to do larger areas or more coverage areas. I am interested to see how this would work with Hourglass foundation and loose powders as I think they would all work so much better as a complete base makeup.

Next product I want from Hourglass would be their Vanish stick foundation. Have you tried it? Do you like it? Let me know in the comments!
