Shiseido Aura Dew Face, Eyes, Lips

Where I got it: After being super impressed with their new VisionAiry Gel Lipstick from their latest makeup range launch, I went back to check out their other products. I took home this Aura Dew for $56 as well as one of their WhippedBlush. Comes in 3 shades, a golden one, a blush toned one and this one which is a silvery grey one.

What I got: This is the Shiseido Aura Dew Face, Eyes, Lips in Lunar 01. This multidimensional highlighter suspends ultra-fine rose, silver, and gold Japanese pearls in a cushiony, transparent base that melds seamlessly with every skin tone. Its revolutionary texture ensures that this highlighter stays put for 12 hours without caking and can be easily layered over eye, lip, or cheek products without compromising colour or adding weight. Available in three radiant shades inspired by Tokyo’s gleaming lights, customizing your glow is easier than ever. Dermatologist and ophthalmologist-tested.

How I find it: From the little jar, this highlighter doesn’t look very appealing. It is when you swatch it, the magic happens. No joke. It looks grey, almost brown-grey, but when you swatch it with your fingertips, it feels so smooth and almost soft that you can press your finger in. Pick up your finger and you will see this sparkly, glittery product that does crazy reflects. It is not chunky glitter, but super fine, reflective specks on glow.

I tried using this on my cheeks as a highlighter, but I think it is more suited as eyeshadow or a top coat over other shadows. It doesn’t really have a base colour so it is rather transparent when the light doesn’t reflect the glitter particles to your eyes. I would say this is great for editorial looks and for party makeup. Not saying that you can’t wear this during the day to work, but it can look a little unnatural.

Overall: I am seriously impressed with Shiseido’s new makeup range, the quality, the colours, the texture, everything is just superior. The Aura Dew is a versatile product which can be used as a highlighter, as an eyeshadow topper, inner corner highlight, lip topper, etc. I love how it is not super opaque so you can either apply thinly for a barely-there shimmer or build it up for a more intense gloss with sparkles in a silvery base. A little goes a long way and this little pot will last me for a long long time. Did I mention that the packaging is to die for? The glass base contrast with the black lid looks so chic and modern.
