Where I got it: I was at Farmers the other day checking out the new Shiseido makeup collection and I saw the new Milano stand right in the beauty section! I knew Farmers had Milano products for sale online, but they are recently instores as well which is great because I can try the shades out before buying. I picked up two lip products this time but the eye shadow palettes were really impressive and beautiful too! These lip toppers come in a tots of 6 shades and they were $22.99 each.
What I got: Milani Hypnotic Lights Holographic Lip Topper in Luster Light. Add sparkle to your smile with Milani Hypnotic Lights Lip Topper. Wear on bare lips or apply over lip colour for extra iridescent glow with light reflecting, prismatic shimmer that glistens as you move.
How I find it: From the hand swatches, these are really pigmented and sparkly and impressive! It already looks beautiful on the tube. I had a bit of trouble choosing which shade to get at the counter but I ended up picking this one as it is quite versatile without changing the base lip colour too much.
The wand has a pointed tip and it picks up a generous amount of product. The formula is very pigmented and the glitter is impressive! However, the glitter particles were rather large, I can feel it on my lips.
I like to let my base lip colour set before applying this topper. I dab a small dot in the centre of my lips and dab it with my fingertips to blend it out. I then later on more until I reached the desired effect. I find that if I apply the full swipe over my lips, it would be too much and would potentially wipe off my existing colour.
Overall: The colour of the lip topper is beautiful and it looks really pretty on top of something like a pink or red shade, especially when you want to add some dimension or sparkle to a matte lip. However, be warned of the chunkiness of the glitters. I can definitely feel them when I press my lips together. When I pair this with the Milani Amour Matte Lip Creme, it was pretty drying and the glitter did wear off and fall off eventually after moving my mouth for a while or after eating. It might be a little hard to touch up or reapply unless you remove it all and start over again. I would suggest to use a more comfortable and long lasting liquid lip underneath and then apply this sparingly.
I tried this with the Shiseido VisionAiry Gel Lipstick which is a much more moisturising lipstick, not a liquid matte lip, and the effect was much better. It felt more comfortable but it still wore off easily.
