Makeup Revolution Re-Loaded Palette

Where I got it

I ordered this from the Farmers website when they first started stocking Makeup Revolution on their website and in stores. This palette is only $11. If you don’t know about Makeup Revolution, they are a British company which does really affordable but good quality makeup. They have foundations, concealers, highlighters, bronzer, blushes, you name it, they have it. Beauty Bliss was pretty much the only place to buy Makeup Revolution if you are in New Zealand except for the Makeup Revolution website, which you can only get free shipping if you spend over £75, otherwise you would have to pay £18.95 and get your products in 10-20 working days! Now Farmers are stocking them as well, but BB does have some products that Farmers did not stock!

What I got

This is the Makeup Revolution Re-Loaded Eyeshadow palette in Iconic Fever. Time to get RELOADED! Our 15 shade eyeshadow palettes that are bound to pack a punch at an affordable price. Warm burnt shades for lovers of orange and burgundy, in a variety of matte and shimmer shades. Highly pigmented, long-wearing, smooth and blendable eyeshadow shades that will keep you on trend all year round. 

How I find it

This palette has a warm-toned colour-story that reminds me of autumn leaves and trees. There is a mixture of shimmer and matte shades which I find is a really good mix. It leans more towards the reddish browns and orange browns.

Let’s start with the first row, I will go from bottom to top as you see from the swatches below, which will be left to right if you put the palette the right way up. Shade 1 is a pale yellow shade with gold-tone shimmer that you would use as a highlight in the inner corner or the brow bone if you want. Shade 2 is a matte bone shade which is great for laying out as the base shade or browbone shade. Shade 3 is matte nude that is also great for laying down as a base. Shade 4 is a good transition shade if you are not going for a dark eyeshadow look. The 5th shade is a light chocolate brown that is also a good transition shade.

The second row from the bottom, this row has more shimmers than matte and these are the medium shades of the palette. Shade 1 is a light warm-tone brown that is good for transition or base colour if you are going for a darker eyeshadow look. Shade 2 is a beautiful orangey brown with a gold shift. Shade 3 is a matte burnt orange-brown. Shade 4 is a shimmery pinky brown (very similar to shade 2, but slightly redder). Shade 5 is a darker golden toned brown.

The bottom row has the darker shades. Shade 1 seems a little out of the place in this palette which is a mustard brown with a yellow undertone. Shade 2 is a matte warm brown. Shade 3 is a warm red-brown. Shade 4 is a dark brown with a cool undertone. Shade 5 is a shimmery deep brown with gold and copper reflects (similar to shade 4, but with the reflects). Shade 4 & 5 would be great at the lash line to frame the eyes.

Overall

I am loving this palette lately. It is affordable, the quality is great for its price and even though the packaging is not very exciting, it is nice and simple with a clear lid (no mirror sorry) that you can see what shades are in the palette. The orangey-red shades are great for fall/autumn, but we are actually heading into Spring in the southern hemisphere so I would probably wear this less when it does get into spring/summer. However, there are so many nice browns in here that can be worn any season of the year and would be great to mix with another palette.

The pigmentation and formula of all the shades are really impressive – creamy and opaque and has minimal fall-out. The shimmery and metallic shades are really pretty and they transfer to the skin very well. I really want to grab another one if they do have something on the red/purple tones. I will need to go to Farmers and check them out again
