Where I got it
I was recommended this cleansing oil by a friend and I got mine from The Chemist Warehouse for $9.99. You can find Simple skincare products from Countdown, pharmacies, Farmers, etc. I have never used Simple products before but it is not a brand that I am not interested in, just not that eye-popping that I really wanted to pick it up. Let’s see how this goes and I might pick up other products as well?
What I got
This is a 125ml bottle of the Simple Hydrating Cleansing Oil. Simple Hydrating Cleaning Oil thoroughly cleanses for a touchably soft skin. Made with 100% natural grape-seed oil, when mixed with water it dissolves impurities and removes make-up, leaving your skin deeply clean and well-hydrated.
How I find it
I am a strong believer in double cleansing and a cleansing oil is as convenient as it gets. I simply squeeze a decent amount onto my dry hands and hop into the shower. I do not skimp on the amount of product I use when it comes to cleansing oil because if there is not enough product, you might be dragging your skin and I often give myself a bit of a massage with the oil to ensure all makeup is getting broken down and removed.
So after hopping into the shower, I massage the oil all over my face of makeup, then I stand under the shower within wetting my face or hands. I love cleansing oils because you can use it around your eye area too without the need to harsh rubbing. Then I take a bit of warm water to my hands and fingers and work that onto my face to emulsify the oil. Rinse off and I am only my second cleanse with a cleanser.
Overall
This cleansing oil is a lot less thick compared to a lot of other cleansing oils I have tried, like Shu Uemura, MAC, Za, Shiseido, etc. It feels really lightweight and fluid. It doesn’t really have that thick, luxurious feeling on the hands and face, but that is not a really big deal and the possible reason for this is that Simple did not add particular ingredients to give that luxe feeling? Besides the point, this cleansing oil is effective and no-fuss. It glides onto the skin effortlessly and a little goes a long way with this formula. It breaks down my foundation, waterproof mascara and my liquid lipstick too. It does not leave a slippery feeling on the skin but my skin feels clean and soft afterwards and I can use a toner on a cotton pad to swipe across my face and nothing would show up.
The oil does have a grape seed scent that kind of reminds me of canola oil that I use for cooking (lol), but nevertheless, this slim bottle is convenient and looks great on the counter, but I would definitely prefer a pump instead of a flip-top cap.
