Where I got it
Mecca Maxima has just opened their new store in Sylvia Park which is so convenient for us living out East/South Auckland. I was there on the day of the opening, even though I went in the afternoon, the place was still packed! I actually went straight in to pick up the Tatcha The Pearl (which I will review on my blog as well) and while I was browsing, I went by the Too Faced counter (which was huge and right by the entry. I was interested in the foundation because I heard it was a comfortable matte, not a hard-out dry, flat matte. Also, the packaging and scent is just really cute and nice so I quickly got shade matched by one of the lovely girls there and picked up the shade Vanilla for $57.

How I find it
This is a creamy liquid foundation that comes out in an airless pump. I use about 2 pumps for my entire face and neck, I would add another half a pump if I need more coverage. I like to use a damp beauty sponge to apply the foundation as I find that it is the easiest way to get a streak free finish.
The foundation is really easy to blend and this shade is a perfect match for me. Actually when I was at the shop, I tried a medium beige which is my usually go-to range. One of the lovely ladies at Mecca asked if I needed help with shade matching, and she took one look at me and recommended I try Vanilla. She tried it on my face and it looked really good. After paying for it I was thinking the lighting at the shop might affect the colour of the foundation on my face so I might be mismatched. However, at home when I tried it myself, the shade was seamless!
The foundation looked satin matte at first but as I continued with the rest of my makeup, it started to dry down to a really comfortable natural-looking matte. I used a cream-to-powder highlighter and a cream blush on top without any issues. Then I just powder with a setting powder because I have an oily t-zone.
Overall
Really pretty packaging, both the box and the tube. I like the squeeze tube with the pump and a cap very much. It is also 48ml which is much more that the usual 30ml, so it works out to be pretty good value.
I love the comfort matte finish in my combination skin. It doesn’t feel dry on my cheeks and it doesn’t feel heavy in my t-zone. It did not settle into my pores or lines and it looks great around my nose and mouth. I think a damp sponge is the best way to go for a good flawless application without streaks or patches.
It did not oxidise on my skin and is a good medium coverage that is buildable as well. Longevity of this foundation is superior. At around the 10 hour mark, my skin still looked and felt nice and comfortable. I used a tissue to blot and my face and very little foundation came off on the tissue, which I was a little skeptical. I thought it might have rubbed off or melted off already that’s why there’s nothing on the tissue.
At the end of the night, around 12 hours of wear, it did move around a little around my nose and between my brows. But when I removed my makeup with a makeup removal wipe, I can see the foundation being removed. It was an easy removal as well.
Overall, I really enjoy this foundation as much as the Clarins Skin Illusion I recently tried. Clarins is sheer cover with luminous finish, this Too Faced one is medium coverage with a matte finish, also longer lasting as well. Both are my preferred foundation formulas for everyday and weekend wear. I would love to try more from the Too Faced Peaches and Cream collection, especially their setting powder and primer!
