Too Faced Peach Frost Melting Powder Highlighter

Where I got it

Mecca Maxima recently opened in Sylvia Park which is much closer to me than New Market and Queen street. I can already see my bank breaking. Anyway, it opened its doors on 5th October 2018 and they have their famous goodie bag lockers where you spend $70 or more to get a chance to open any locker to get your goodie. This powder highlighter was my freebie and this retails for $47.

What I got

This is the Too Faced Peach Frost Melting Powder Highlighter in Happy Face. From the meccabeauty.co.nz website:

  • In the perfect, universally flattering champagne peach tone, this creamy powder highlighter adds a pop of buildable radiance
  • The velvet-like creamy texture transforms into lightweight powder on application
  • Infused with hydrating and sweet-scented peach and sweet fig cream

How I find it

This is a very interesting formula which should feel creamy when you touch it, but dries down like a powder. The soft champagne-coloured highlighter has a beautiful sheen instead of a blinding, reflective look. I use a dense brush like a kabuki brush to pick up the product and tap into my cheekbones and down the bridge of my nose.

I use a cream blush after the foundation has dried down and before I powder my face. I like to use a tapping motion instead of a sweeping motion to avoid moving the foundation around. This highlighter has a soft focused look with a natural looking glow to the skin. Not shimmery or sparkly, but a soft glow.

After that, I use a light dusting of setting powder over this area to set everything. I try not to use too much powder to dial down the highlight.

Overall

First of all, the packaging is super cute. The peach shapes compact with the Too Faced brand on the top in gold accents. The highlighter has Too Faced embossed on the product and it is raised from the pan. When you swatch it, it might not be very impressive and exciting, but this is definitely something for beginners or people who look for a natural look for highlighters. Otherwise, you can use this as a highlighter base and apply a more striking powder highlighter on top.

The texture is nice and the finish is pretty, you can build it up slightly but I wouldn’t recommend it as a creamy/ balm like product might move and bunch up with the foundation. For some strange reason, I think mine is a little old because it didn’t feel creamy or soft even new in the pan. It was a little hard to pick up product, almost like a semi-dried cream product and little hairline cracks. I was a little disappointed, but since it was a free gift, I wasn’t able to return or exchange it. I might go in store and try out the tester to see what it actually feels like.
