Where I got it
I ordered these goodies on NZsale on 24/10 and only got my hands on these on the 30/11. It literally took over a month to arrive. I have bought from NZsale before and their shipping can vary from sale to sale. Some products are shipped direct from the NZsale warehouse, some are delivered from overseas, hence the long wait for shipping. Anyway, the sale had a really nice discount so I was willing to wait.
I paid NZD$113.60 for all 3 of these products which includes shipping. I will state the price for each item below and also the RRP of them as well.
What I got
I ordered a VisionAiry Gel Lipstick in shade 216 Vortex, a Modern Matte Powder Lipstick in shade 508 Semi Nude and an Archliner Ink in shade 01. Shiseido has launched a whole new line of makeup in September (NZ) and I have already reviewed the VisionAiry Gel Lipstick, Minimalist Whipped Powder Blush and the Aura Dew for face, eyes and lips. As you can probably guess, I love all the products I bought from their new line, therefore I am buying more!
So the VisionAiry Gel Lipsticks were $38.60 each (RRP$51.00), the Modern Matte Powder Lipsticks were also $38.60 each (RRP$56.00) and the Archliner Ink was $36.40 (RRP$56.00)
How I find it
Let’s talk about the VisionAiry Gel Lipstick in 216 Vortex (1.6g). There are so many new shades in each of Shiseido’s new lipstick collection. There is this gel lipstick, and the modern matte powder lipstick, there is a lip gloss and a liquid lipstick. They all have different textures, finishes and shades.
From the Shiseido website: A long-lasting, full-coverage lipstick featuring innovative Triple Gel Technology for high-impact, weightless colour. Comes in 28 shades. Vortex is described as a grape colour.
This shade is gorgeous and sophisticated. I would love to wear this full-coverage on a date night, night out, dinners and events. I can also see myself wearing this sheer or ombre during the day to add a pop of darker tint to the lips. The formula glides onto the lips so smoothly and it is very pigmented. The gel-texture feels so soft of the lips and it is not drying whatsoever. LOOOOOVE this!
Next one is the Modern Matte Powder Lipstick in shade 508 Semi-nude (4g). From the Shiseido website: A weightless, full-coverage, matte lipstick that lends lips long-lasting, velvety colour. Comes in 24 shades and 508 Semi-nude is described as cinnamon.
A nude lipstick is very hard to find for me. I have a light/medium skin tone with a yellow undertone, and my lips are quite pigmented but with a pale look on top (hard to describe, but it just doesn’t look nice). Therefore I can’t wear a nude that is too pale or too cool-toned, otherwise, I look too washed out.
This cinnamon shade on the other hand really complements my skin tone and natural lip colour. It is slightly darker on the lips, but it still looks natural and nude-like. The formula though – it is super comfortable and not drying at all. It looks semi-matte, which is why they called it Modern Matte because it is not the usually drying matte lipstick formula. If you use a lip balm under it, it will feel creamy too!
Lastly, we have the Archliner Ink in shade 01 (0.4ml). From the Shiseido website: a specially designed angled micro-precision tip, this eyeliner takes the guesswork out of liquid liner and delivers weightless definition that lasts up to 24 hours. Only comes in 1 shade.
I have a love/hate relationship with liquid eyeliners for the longest time. They pretty much always, ALWAYS run on my eyes. After numerous attempts with different brands, they will stay on for a few hours and then it will start to fade and run to my under eye area. I have had some luck with a Japanese brand and the Stila Stay All Day. But they seem to perform less and less as the product gets older.
I thought I would give this a try seeing that Shiseido’s products are so awesome. Another thing that got me really interested in this was the slanted tip that is ultra fine which would be able to give me that super fine line along the lashline.
Overall
Nothing in this haul has disappointed me the slightest and I’m growing more and more in love with this entire new makeup line. The gel lipstick I kind of already knew I would love. I just wanted to see if another shade would have a different formula or finish, etc. but from the two that I have tried, the formula is consistent.
As for the ModernMatte lipstick, it was more on the creamy matte instead of the dry-down matte which can be a bit uncomfortable and not very flattering. With a semi-nude shade, this creamy matte looks just amazing on the lips. I can wear this everyday, for an event with a bright eye makeup, etc. The comfortable feeling in the lips makes you want to keep wearing it.
The Archliner was a win as well, I did not expect it to be as long-lasting as it did and very little smudges as well. I wore it in the weekend initially when I know I can check in the mirror frequently in case it does smudge and migrate. Well, it didn’t! It stayed on my eyeliner very well. Then I wore it to my Christmas work do which was a semi-outdoor event and I couldn’t check in my mirror constantly. When I did, my eyeliner still looked amazing! That angled tip is such a great design, it got to my lash line effortlessly.
