Where I got it
I have recently been upgraded to Beauty Loop L3 in the Mecca beauty loop loyalty program. If you love makeup and skincare, you should really join up as it is free to join and every purchase you do in-stores or online adds to the total. Since the new Sylvia Park branch, I have lost track of how many times I went in there and walking out with a big bag. It was easy getting up to L3 to be honest. I am a shopaholic for makeup and skincare.
Anyway, as a Beauty Loop L3 member, getting first dips in the latest launches is one of the best perks (let’s now forget about the Beauty Loop boxes too!). I was sent an email with the opportunity for ordering these online way before it officially launches in store and online (meccabeauty.co.nz). So I picked up these little cuties at $47 each. I ordered these on 17/1/19 and it was delivered on 21/1/19.
What I got
These are the Too Faced Tutti Frutti Blush and Bronzer Duos – Pineapple Paradise Strobing Bronzer Highlighting Duo and Fruit Cocktail Blush Duo. It is FINALLY here in New Zealand! This collection has launched in the US a long time ago (almost 6 months?!) I have no idea why it’s been taking sooooo long to get to New Zealand. Anyway, the entire collection consists of a dewy foundation (I was interested, but didn’t get after watching a couple of bad reviews), 2 eyeshadow palettes (Pineapple-inspired and berry-inspired), stick highlighters, liquid highlighters, blush duos, bronzer/highlighter duo, lip glosses, lip toppers, pressed setting powder and a setting spray (which is not available in Mecca). Basically, pretty much a whole face of makeup covered (except for mascaras, eyeliner and primer).
I actually didn’t need more bronzers or highlighters or blushes, but this collection is so damn cute and I’m sure the scent would be pretty good. After trying the Peach Perfect Foundation, I got really interested in the brand. So I went through a quick elimination process… I dropped the Dew You foundation because I heard it was super dewy, I didn’t pick the eyeshadow palette because they are the least used makeup products in my entire collection, I didn’t pick up the liquid or stick highlighters because I already have heaps and they take much longer to finish than powder products. I also did not pick up any lip products because all the colours were really pretty, but not very wearable for me. I really wanted to pick up the setting powder, but the banana scent totally put me off it. So there you go, that’s why I picked these two up!
How I find it
These cute little duos are so damn pretty! The Bronzer and highlighter duo only came in this shade, but the blush duo comes in 4 shades and this is the pinky one out of the 4. Both duos have the same packaging which has a magnetic closure and a little chamfer at the corner to open the lid. if comes with a good sized mirror as well with a cute little sticker on the scent (Strawberries for the blush and pineapple for the bronzer duo).
Blush Duo (StrobeBerry). This brightening and luminescent blush duo created with our soft-touch, silky formula is the perfect way to customize your Tutti Frutti flush from sweet and flirty to a sexy, sparkling glow.
This blush duo looks rather intimidating in the pan – check out that bright pink on the right! That bright pink has a satin finish and the coral-pink blush on the left side has a shimmery finish. Both shades are super nice and can be layered on top of each other. Both formulas are super silky, but not soft and buttery to the touch. It does not kick up much dust which is really good in my opinion. The pay-off is good and very controllable, just make sure you tap off any excess, you will hardly get a concentrated patch of blush.
Strobing Bronzer Highlighting Duo (Pineapple Sun). This first-of-its-kind Tutti Frutti velvet bronzer and glimmering highlighter duo smells like sweet pineapple and can be mixed together to create a customized, island-worthy glow.
It’s summer here in New Zealand and I have been experimenting with different bronzers. The Hoola Bronzer by Benefit is a little too dark for my skin tone so I don’t use it often. I also use Loreal Back To Bronze and a Bobbi Brown one. This one here has a slightly satin finish bronzer shade which is a medium brown, and the highlighter on the left is shimmery.
Overall
Really loving this formula, it’s not too pigmented or powdery at all! So easy to control even with that bright blush! They show up on the skin not patchy or chunky. The blushes, when combined, looks really beautiful on the cheeks with the right about of sheen from the shimmery shade.
I definitely feel that they are comparable to my Hourglass Ambient face palette in regards to the formula, the pay-off and the finish. Well of course, the Hourglass palette has 6 shades but much smaller than the Too Faced, but it would take me a long time to finish even the Hourglass one, let alone these larger pans by Too Faced.
All in all, I think these are great quality and the packaging is ever so cute and summery. It just sparks joy to see them, to use them and to smell them! I definitely recommend.
