Juno & Co Microfibre Velvet Sponge

Where I got it

I picked this up at Mecca Maxima at Sylvia Park in the weekend and I have been seeing people using this and talking about it on their YouTube Channels and this sponge is actually not very expensive at $10.

What I got

This is the Juno & Co Microfibre Velvet Sponge. Unlike other blending sponges, the JUNO Velvet Sponge is lightweight and made of a microfiber material that’s velvety soft. We’ve designed the JUNO Velvet Sponge with all-over makeup application in mind, with a tapered design for precision blending for every contour of the face and a flat bottom for a more ergonomic and natural looking all-over application.

The ultra-soft, non-abrasive microfiber material is made with very small fibers that are smaller than a strand of silk and hold onto any liquid product. The second layer of our sponge is a traditional antimicrobial makeup blender. When these two layers work together, they create a fusion technology that provides the perfect blend using less product.

Material: Hydrophilic Polyurethane, Anti-microbial Microfiber.

How I find it

This little velvet sponge has a very fluffy touch and it doesn’t feel as soft as your usual beauty blender or beauty sponge. The sponge doesn’t really expand which makes this a rather small sponge if you have bigger hands. It is a little on the stiff side and you can really feel the little hair/fibres of the micro-fibre texture on your skin when you use it.

You can use this wet or dry, wet with anything liquid or cream, and dry if you want to use it with powder. So if you want to use the same sponge to apply your foundation and then set it with a loose powder, you will need 2 sponges. However, I have tried using this sponge damp to pick up powder for baking and it still works great.

Overall

It does take a bit of getting used to because it isn’t as soft and bouncy as my usual beauty sponge but at the same time I think it absorbs less product that the traditional ones. The microfibre texture on the outside can feel a little rough on the skin, but I never smear the sponge on my face, otherwise it might create streaks or move your foundation around too much.

Cleaning it is just as you would any makeup sponge, I just use a baby shampoo as I do with all my other sponges and brushes, just don’t scrub harshly and the sponge would last you quite a while. Overall, I do prefer my traditional beauty blender or beauty sponges that are more soft and squishy. I think they feel nicer on my hands and on my face. As for application, I think they are pretty much the same.
