Where I got it
I got these from the Miniso store in Sylvia park which opened sometime in October I think? It was close to when Mecca Maxima opened in Sylvia Park as well. They sell some makeup products, small electronics like desk lamps, desk fans, stationary, and other home products and decors.
Initially I was really excited when they were promoting their launch because it is very very similar to Muji in Asia which sells really nice stationary, clothing and home items. Muji in Asian is quite big, so I was expecting at least a Mecca Maxima sized store, but I kid you not, this thing is just as big as a convenient store and I was seriously disappointed.
That aside, it’s all the product in the store that matters right? Anyway, I grabbed these liquid Eyeliners for $3.99 each and they are not the first products I’ve bought from them. I have bought hydrating sprays, brow pencils and BB cream as well, but I did not review them on my blog because I wasn’t very interested in them myself.
What I got
These are the Miniso Big Eyes Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner and Precise & Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner. Both shades are in black and I think that’s the only shade available. There isn’t much information online, so I will describe it as per the packaging.
Both Eyeliners appears to claim the same 24hr waterproof wear and just simple black liquid eyeliners. I did a quick compare of the tip and they are both felt tip liners with a super fine tip. It is not too soft and not too stiff, my favourite type of eyeliner tip.
How I find it
I have tried both liners and I would say they are exactly the same. The black one does have a slightly smaller barrel so if you have big hands, it might be a little difficult for you to grab properly, but that means it fits into travel bags and makeup bags easily. The gold one has a more of a pencil shaped barrel and a bit of a grip to it. A pull-open lid that is pretty secure as well.
As for the application, first few applications so far is really pigmented, dark and no skipping or tugging at all. The tip is bendy but not too soft. This is great for if you are a beginner in makeup whereas you don’t need super steady hands to draw a neat line.
The formula doesn’t bleed and dries down fast. I usually curly my lashes, do my eye shadows and use my eyeliner at the end before I apply mascara because curling my lashes always ruins my eyeliner.
Overall
As for wear and longevity, I did run into some transfer and smudges with this eyeliner, but that’s not really the eyeliner’s fault. I completely forgot that I had a facial booked and usually when I have a facial that day, I wouldn’t wear a full face of makeup and especially eyeliner because it will always, always fade and smudge and transfer if I close my eyes for a long time. My facialist also always touch my lashes and around my eye area, so I always use a tubing mascara so that the cleanser and cream doesn’t melt the mascara.
Anyway, after my facial my eyeliner was compromised and it started to transfer to my upper lid (I have hooded eyelids too). I removed it the first time, but it happened again and again. However, the next few times I used it, it didn’t transfer again, but it did fade at the end of the wing area, probably because it’s due to my eye shape anyway.
I will definitely keep using this, but in no way they will replace my Stila or Shiseido liquid eyeliners right now. Let’s see how long it can go before it dries out too!
