Too Faced Better Than Sex Waterproof Mascara

Where I got it

I was not intended to buy this mascara when I walked into Mecca Maxima the other weekend. There was a small display at the counter which said there is a small gift with purchase offer for all Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara purchase (but the lady at the counter said that offer has finished. I guess they should have taken the display away then?). It was $38.00.

What I got

This is the Too Faced Better Than Sex Waterproof Mascara (8g). Get the most luscious, curled and dramatic lashes anywhere and at any time with this new waterproof and smudge-proof formula. The famed curved shaped brush sweeps the volumising formula through lashes to thicken, lengthen and curl. Enriched with porcelain flower extract, lashes are kept moisturised and conditioned while looking their very best. 

How I find it

The packaging of this mascara is so pretty! I mean the pale metallic blue tube with the water droplet design all around the tube (they look so real!) There is a weight on this tube and it feels really luxurious. The brush applicator is rather big with an hourglass shape. It has a creamy formula that is not dry or sticky on the lashes.

I like to use a mascara base before any mascara and my favourite base is the pmel essence mascara base – it holds curls like no other products. I then apply just one layer of this mascara and it has reached my desired result already! I do have a tip – remove any excess product from the tip of the brush to avoid clumping and messy application.

Overall

This is my first time trying the Better Than Sex mascara because I am really quite sceptical about mascaras and eyeliners as they will run, smudge and transfer onto my undereye area. This mascara is so far pretty good. I do see a little bit of smudging at my under eye area near the outer edge of my eyes, which is not uncommon for my eye shape. If I power/set my under eye concealer well, I can go through most of my day without this happening.

When I’m using my essence mascara base, I can keep the curl up the entire day without dropping down, but if I am using this mascara on its own, it get a little heavy and my lashes will drop. I really like this mascara so far and I think it is quite comparable to the Hourglass Caution mascara, but the brush is slightly too big for me. I will definitely keep using this one.
