Where I got it
I was sent this as part of the review panel for beautyreview.co.nz, but you should be able to find this from places like Farmers, Chemist warehouse, pharmacies, etc. This is RRP$59.99.
What I got
This is the Manicare Sonic Mini Cleansing Brush. Manicare Sonic Mini Rechargeable Facial Cleansing Brush uses sonic vibration to assist in cleaning impurities from deep within your pores. Clinically proven to remove 5x more impurities than hands alone. All it takes is one minute twice daily to help achieve a fresh, clear and even-looking complexion. We developed the Manicare Sonic Mini® Facial Cleansing Brush to be compact, light-weight and quiet. It is also water-resistant* and suitable for use in the shower. Includes Sonic Mini® unit, sensitive brush head, brush cover, and USB charging cable. Sonic Mini® brush heads simply click in and out the main unit. Replacement brush heads sold separately.
How I find it
Inside the box, there is the handheld device along with a charging cable and a brush head with.m a plastic cover. The device is half-round in shape and fits in your hands easily (unless you have smaller hands). The material of the device is easy to grip and won’t slip off even when wet. The hanging cable is about a meter long and this pack contains only one brush head. You can buy replacement brush heads separately or get a massaging head separately.
Before using it for the first time, change the device for at least 2 hours, while charging the red led at the on/off button will light up. Once charging is done, the lights turn off, then the device can be used for about 5 hours. The device can be used in the shower as well and while you should avoid removing the brush head while in the shower because you shouldn’t get the charging point wet, using it normally in the shower is absolutely fine.
So I wet my brush slight and my face as well, then I pour my cleanser (gel type works best) directly only to the brush head, and then turn the device on (press button once for low setting, twice for the high setting). I then move the device around my face in a gentle circular motion starting from my forehead, then my cheeks and nose area and then my chin and neck. The instructions state approximately 1 minute for the entire face (20 sec on the forehead, 10 on each cheek, 10 on nose and 10 on chin). I usually go for 10 on the forehead, about 20 on cheeks and 20 on the nose, 10 on nose and 10 on chin/neck area. We often neglect the neck area, but I put skincare, sunscreen and makeup down there so I got to clean it too!
The device doesn’t have a timer so you have to pretty much time yourself or stop it whenever you feel it’s done. Don’t use it over your eyes, because your eye area doesn’t need this type of cleaning at all. Rinse the brushes thoroughly and then put the cap back on. I put my device brush-side down to let any moisture drip down instead of into the bristles. The device is small and cute so I like how it sits on my vanity or in my drawer if I need to stow it away from my kids.
Overall
I like how gentle the bristles are and how it cleanses effectively but not harshly. It’s not one of those rotating brush head that is actually quite harsh on the skin and not effective in cleansing, it has sonic vibrations to loosen up dirt and debris on top of the skin. I don’t see it as a form of exfoliation, so I will still use my AHA or BHA in my skincare routine but if you have really sensitive skin, you may want to use it 2-3 times a week and see how your skin reacts.
I don’t see a purging period where my skin breaks out crazy after using it for 2 weeks, my skin feels clean and smooth after using this and my skincare goes on smoothly.
