Where I got it
I got this from the Chanel counter at my local Farmers and I’ve been eyeing this for a while now. I haven’t got it mainly because it’s expensive, and the last at Chanel always seems to be busy or not friendly. I recently had a $20 voucher so I went ahead and got it. It was RRP$56 and Chanel hardly ever goes on sale, only offer they do have is double points at Farmers.
What I got
This is the Chanel Rouge Allure Ink in 154 Expérimenté. A matte liquid lip colour. An intense and luminous ink. With its fine and dense pigments, it instantly and weightlessly fuses with the lips for a long-lasting result (8 hrs*). The daring allure that never goes unnoticed. A second-skin texture thanks to a fine, melt-away formula composed of a unique wax (ensuring softness, suppleness and a velvety feel), jojoba oil (delivering comfort, hydration and protection) and active ingredients (sappan wood, matcha green tea, sweet almond oil, Vitamin E derivative).
How I find it
First of all, the packaging is so beautiful! The frosted glass tube with the iconic black lid with Chanel printing in gold. The pointed applicator holds onto the product for an easy and precise application. The formula is not something that dries down fast or is super long-lasting. It is more of a pigmented lip stain with a moisture finish.
There is no need for a lip liner for me because the tip of the wand is so easy to go around my lip line and it doesn’t bleed around my lips. I like to either dab it into the centre of my lips and press my lips together, move it around to get a sheer colour wash. For a more intense look, I dip the applicator back in for more product, and swipe from the centre outwards and then fill my lips entirely without blotting.
Overall
I am still excited about this lipstick as I did when I just bought it, and it’s been at least 3 weeks. I don’t use it every day because it’s a little too bold for me at work, but I just simply love the packaging and the formula. I’ve had something similar before from more affordable brands, but this one just hits the spot. When applied sheer, it doesn’t just look washed out. When applied full coverage, the finish is just phenomenal!! I would love to get more shades, but I really do need to think hard about which ones to get because I know shades like pinks and oranges just doesn’t work on me when applied full. I don’t want to spend money on something that I need to “make it work for me”. It should “work for me” instead if you know what I mean.
Also, this beautiful true red is the right deepness for my skintone and my natural lip colour. Sometimes some reds are a little to bright or a little too orange which will make my skin look a little washed out and too made up. This shade of red is just perfect and I am so very glad I picked this shade up! Have you tried these lip colours before and which shade worked for you?
