Where I got it
It’s actually been a while since I’ve visited the Life Pharmacy Clarins counter I always go to because the lady that works that have recently resigned and Life Pharmacy has only recently replaced the post with a new lady. I also got a bit more busy with my son starting primary school so there was basically no time to just shop around without knowing exactly what I needed to buy.
Recently I went into Life Pharmacy to check out the new Dermalogica serum (that purple bottle with the duo formula, gosh that thing is $290!!! WTF.), then I walked over to the Clarins counter to see if they have any new launches (they will be launching a new foundation soon, and in the US they have a new serum in a golden bottle). They don’t have anything at the moment so I looked at their latest makeup products which were launched about 2 months ago? The new lady, Sudy was really polite and helpful, so I decided to purchase this Glow 2 Go Blush & Illuminator Duo in shade 01 glowy pink for $56.
What I got
This is the Clarins Glow 2 Go Blush & Illuminati’s Duo is shade 01 Glowy Pink. A dual-ended, 2-in-1 blush and highlighter stick that illuminates face, eyes, lips and body with light-catching color. Two pearlescent colors bring a multidimensional glow to all skin tones. Use the colors separately or together to sculpt a customizable radiance. The creamy formula glides on easily and blends seamlessly, giving you freedom to create.
How I find it
These are cream blush and highlighter on a duo ended stick so some of you might just apply these straight to the skin or use your fingertips and pat it onto your face, but I like to use a dense kabuki brush to dab on the product and lightly tap it over the areas. I tried to apply this directly over my skin with foundation but it moves my foundation a bit and it became a little patchy. Applying with fingers is good, but it doesn’t blend out flawlessly. If you get too much in your fingers, you will need to tap it away slightly and then put it on your face.
I love this shade of pink for the blush, it gives my light/medium skin a nice flush of colour that looks young and radiant. The highlighter though is a little unexpected. The purple undertone to this almost duo-chrome highlighter is not everyone’s cup of tea. It’s definitely not a natural skin glow.
I personally quite like it because I do like a bit of colour in my highlighter and the formula does blend out smoothly and it’s not patchy or crumbly.
Overall
I think the colour of the blush and highlighter goes quite well together and the complement each other. However, I wouldn’t agree that it is such a grab-and-go type of a product because I will definitely need to use a brush with both of them. If I was able to quickly dab and blend with my fingers, I would definitely take this on the go, but with this formula, I wasn’t able to.
Regardless, I think the product is really nice and the colour is really pretty and flattering. Unfortunately it only comes in 1 shade and the other shade is a bronzer/highlighter duo so the option is very limited.
